I have explored several different back-up options over the years for my personal files, not really liking the fact that the cloud files are "out there" in cyberspace so I never did that: so I've had flash drives, tried backups over my home intra-net, blue-ray disks with back-ups- where are they now? Now with this neat ultra fast cigarette pack sized dynamo I can Relax! everything is safe on my back-up. It is quiet, it is a disc- based- so even if it stops working, data can be recovered because it is a physical disc. I used the free back-up trial to snap a mirror of my HD then I did a direct copy of my documents, music and photo albums. It took it all- it really has a whopping 4TB ( about 3.8 actual TB space) -excellent value for money.I would recomend it to anyone who has irreplaceable files. USB2 and USB3 compatable, so it works fine with my old Vaio laptop

This is a good compact 4Tb HD which is compatible with both Windows and Mac. But the only CON is that in order to use the HD on both, you have to format the drive in between uses. It's not a shapeshifter or as versatile as I thought it would be. It kind of defeats the purpose of external storage if I have to format and lose everything in the process to switch from one OS to the other.

Fast, reliable (for 5 months thus far), and roomy. I have connected it to the USB on my router so I can automatically backup all 4 computers in the family without worrying about connecting the external drive to each pc. No complaints at all.

I'm using this drive to expand the storage of my Xbox One. So far, it's great. Setup was a breeze (literally plug in, format, & go) and it took no time to transfer my games & saves to the drive. Highly recommended, especially when it's on sale!

Had my last computer die on me. Was totally unexpected so I lost a good bit of files on the hard drive. I have for some time been keeping most of my data on an 8 TB external hard drive. Still, I had a good bit on the internal drive. I now keep everything on the external. I am told that even the best drives don't last forever, so just to be on the safe side I got this new 4 gig, to back up my files. I am told that putting the data on the 4 gig then unplugging and storing will make it last a long time. He's hoping that is true.
