I bought this neat little drive to back up media files. I use a MacBook Pro, and I wasn't able to format this drive for my computer. I tried Disk Utility. I tried Terminal. I watched numerous YouTube tutorials. Nothing worked. I was just about to return to Best Buy to ask for a Geek's assistance. Then I decided to do what I should've done in the first place...visit the WD Support Site. They give clear, simple directions for formatting the drive for the Mac: https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?h=p1&ID=3865&lang=en&p=238#highsierra So now it seems to be humming along nicely. The little white LED keeps flashing even when there's no activity on the drive. I wish it would light up only when data is being written to or read from the drive. That's a minor quibble. All in all, for the price, this seems to be a Best Buy best buy for sure.

It gets the job done. Was going to spend 200+ on the Xbox storage device and this was recommended by the Best Buy sales person.

I have this more than a year now. One of the best portable hard drives in the market. I got another one of this after being impressed with this. Excellent.

Great external hard drive to back up my photos. I have a large collection of photos and this unit has allowed me to have a back up file that will hold literally thousands of high res images.

Bought this to use as a Time Machine Backup Drive for my MAC. Was a little bit awkward to figure out how to reformat it for use with the MAC, but once that was done it worked just like any of my other Time Machine Drives.

Comparable to passport wd hard drive. Seagate are more lightweight

Price could even be cheaper due to all the solid state devices out on the market. I do like the Western Digital drive and have purchased a few over the years.

I've used a number of these drives and they all work great. I only use them for backups so they don't see much hard use, but I haven't had one fail yet (which is more than I can say for my internal laptop drives over the years).

Use as an external HDD for my PS4 and works great, Moved everything from my internal memory(upgraded it to 2TB) to it and I can fit every game I own on it so far so I don't have to delete one to play another.

Western Digital are extremely reliable to me. Prices are good too.
