Don't buy refurbished/recertified

I've tried different computers, different cables... no change. in fact, i spent MORE money on this to buy new cables to try to make it work. i popped the casing open today hoping i could just put the drive into another enclosure but it's got the USB port soldered onto where the SATA interface goes and I don't have the knowledge to mess around with that. i wish i'd have reviewed this last year when i bought it and not a year later. that's on me. selling non-working garbage ("refurbished") is on Best Buy. this is just disappointing.

Really good external hard drive.
