This is a great back-up drive. I have used it to back-up pictures off my hard drive. i was able use it also to transfer files. Recommend it.

For $99 it’s totally worth the money just wait until it goes on sale. It goes on sale often probably more than 5 times a year

I purchased a Western Digital - Easystore 4TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Black. I was unable to get the HD to start backing up my computer. As a Totaltech member I called in and was assigned a session with an Agent to provide support. Unfortunately after a few hours doing a shared session they were not able to get the back up process functioning so I had to schedule an appointment in a physical store. i left it with them for several days and they were able to get my computer backed up. Unfortunately after a few days at home I noticed that the automatic (default) back up function was not working. i called into Totaltech team and was assigned an Agent. He was baffled & suggested I bring it back into the store. I chose to call Western Digital support. After a few hours in a computer sharing session that were able modify the back up software so it would do its thing. I ended the session while the entire computer was going through a back up. Unfortunately an hour later I found that it did not back up the computer at all but only limited sections. I am very frustrated with this product and am planning to go back into the store and look for a different brand that hopefully will work as promised.

I use this hard drive as a portable back up to my main drive. I had used seagate drives in the past but experienced. Way to many failures.

Very good in terms of using. The USB cable is very sturdy unlike others, and it does as advertised. I can't of a simpler review than this!

You alway need a backup and this hd would be the perfect back up truly recommend it

I haven’t had many WD drives fail. This is the brand I will buy again and again due to its dependability compared to other brands.

I saw this item on sale online and had no problem finding it in the store.

no problem, was worried that this large a drive would need an accessory cable to power it, but it power up just fine in a usb 3.0 hub we had on our PC, have not tried on mac yet, but its formated to PC standards so mac should be able to read, but not write to it

Purchased on sale. I have other WD portable HDs, but this is the biggest I have in terms of capacity. Too bad it doesn't have USB 3.1. Make sure the USB port you connect to is at least USB 3.0 or you won't see the transfer speeds that this is capable of.

I have several computers that were a little slower by downloading many files it has help with speeding them up.

Bought this for my brother so he has somewhere to store his music. He loves it and says it works great. No complaints

This is my first external HD which I bought to back up a failing laptop. The device functions fine, but I had some issues with the software at first. However, this could be due to my computer issues

This is a great portable drive, but the connection tends to be finicky after awhile.

It works as it should and the speeds are good when using USB 3.0. I have no problems with it and I got it for a really good price.
