I downloaded photos and files from my old laptop to this external drive on 1/2/18. I checked to see if I could view these files from my new laptop and everything worked fine, so i deleted the files from my old laptop. 2 days later I connected the drive to my laptop and I couldn't access the files. Brought it back to Best Buy and they diagnosed it as a problem with the connection on the drive. They suggested i contact WD which I did, but they do not retrieve data. Bottom line I had to spend money to have a company retrieve the data. Now I don't have an external hard drive and I'm out $300. Bad experience.

    Crashed! Beware

I have a iMac and wanted to connect it to my AirPort Extreme and use it as a WAN NAS. I also wanted it to be read by a Windows PC. So I had to reformat as FAT32. I formatted it as two 2TB portions. I successfully connected it to the AirPort Extreme. At first it seemed to work properly. However after about 1/2-1hours of use the disk crashed and crashed the iMac. I removed it from the AirPort Extreme and connected it to my computer via a USB port. I could hear the head clicking and was only able to see one of the partitions on Finder. i don't recommend this for a iMac.

    Growing Unhappy with WD Products

This is the second WD easystore drive I've purchased in the past few months. The first lasted about two months, the second lasted about two weeks. I've owned several WD products in the past, but their more recent products seem to be much less reliable – not helpful at all considering the need for an external drive in the first place. Incidentally, I'm VERY careful with my technology components. Each of these two drives were protected in hard cases, and neither drive was dropped or bumped.

It seems to be a good product. I used it on my xbox to store some games. But, last week, out of nowhere, the HD stopped. And now, I can't use it. As far as I saw, it deallocated all the memory, and I don't know what to do now.

I bought this on line with store pick up promised within one hour. One hour ended up being the next day. I have made three recent purchases this way and all three were delayed and were bad experiences.

Difficult to set up. Hard to drag and drop files into this drive. Mounting problems Needed software update right out of the box. My seagate was easier to install.

Bought this to backup my files at work. Couldn't seem to get the backup software configured properly. It would stop backing up intermittently. Have to backup manually. Haven't had time to find an alternative yet.

I was excited to find a small 4TB drive for such a great price. I set it up and transferred some of my files to it. It worked great for a few days, but then my computer did not recognize it was connected. I tried it on another computer and it still was not recognized. I will be returning it to Best Buy.

can't be formatted with latest Apple IOS

Very bad experience; both I and 2 Apple personnel were unable to format the drive to use it for backing up my MacBook. When I called Western Digital to discuss it, they told me I had to use an earlier Apple IOS to format it, and that if I looked far enough into their website, I should be able to find information about that [they offered me nothing, not even a complimentary drive, when I told them that I and Apple had wasted hours trying to format the drive].

When I sent it to the file recovery company to use they couldn't get it to work. Brought it back and got it replaced. As they got their own external hard drive I don't need this.

I have used this device rarely and it's usually stored inside my back pack. Recently I have kept it laid on a table next to my tablet since the Pandemic started. It was working fine a few weeks ago when I last accessed it. When I plugged it in today it started clicking. I will contact the manufacturer to see if there's anything they can do to save the files. Spent $120 dollars on this device. Wish I just kept paying the additional storage on my google drive.
