Right price at a bad time.........The only issue I had is that BB offering the same product bundled with a free 32G USB drive two weeks after my purchase.

I bought this 4tb portable hard drive August 2018 and had been working find until out of no where April 2019 and started clicking and would not load. Immediately went and bought another thinking a freak incident. The second hard drive purchased in April 2019 FAILED in July 2019 while I was underway (U.S. Navy) with the same out of nowhere clicked and would not boot up. Both were still under WD warranty replacement so was shipped back upon my return in August under RMA. I've never had this problem with WD hard drives from the 500gb years ago, 1tb, 2tb, and 3tb models. But this 4tb model, TERRIBLE and no guarantee that the replacements (which under their warranty could be a refurbished model) is NO guarantee it wont fail either.

I find that every time my computer goes to sleep I have to force eject the drive and then plug it in again. Not so great.

So far this device has not been able to do a backup of my files (and there's plenty of room) without an error message telling me that all files could not be backed up.

We purchased two of these and both of them failed in less than a year, we lost all of the data on both drives.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use this. It's not clear for a newbie, & non computer literate.

I have a Mac and am having issues formatting the hard drive. I follow the steps but the options are gray and I can’t get it to work. Super frustrating!

Great deal. I had some trouble with getting it started the first time i had to call tech support. they were helpful and got issue resolved in one call.

It’s so far so good!The good one for this unit that I have experienced is when dropping for many times it still work!

Horrible product and waste of money. I bought this because I have a Mac. Run away if you have a Mac! Worthless!

Tried using this for my MacBook Pro and it just wasn't working well with it

have not opened it yet so i can not give you my opinion yet

It has a great compact design and seems tough enough for everyday use. I spins up quick and reads and writes files quickly. All this is true for the first few months then it starts with the occasional glitchy stuff: specifically not spinning, not being recognized as an attached external device, intermittent operation causing one to think that all the files were trassferred only to find out only a few files downloaded and the hardrive is sitting motionless with a slow blinking light. I sent it in, they sent me back a refurb which acted and behaved in the same manner as the first. Now the second has gone out and I am going to turn it in since it has not quite been a year and this will be the third drive I will be getting from them, and frankly, I suspect that the outcome may be the same as the previous outcomes. They haven't got the science/design of this one down quite yet. I am still a long time fan of Western Digital HDDs, tho if this is what all their products are acting like, I don't see them being able to perpetuate a successful manufacturing company.

Was pretty annoying to set up with my MacBook, had to do extra to have it work with my computer. Just wished it was easier to setup.

This item has done very well so far. No complaints yet. It does what it should do so far When I open it up and use it I wil have more to add.

Out of the box it comes formatted for windows. If you want to use it for both a Mac and a windows machine you will need to reformat.

This crashed and cost me over 2k to recover family photos. Not recommended and don’t trust at all!
