I'm no computer expert but found this not very set up friendly. Wish it was more step by step. If left plugged in all the time it seems to slow down my mouse even when not backing up.

Barely lasted a year. When it died I lost everything on my PS4. Not forever, but it took close to forever to get everything redownloaded.

Never ended up using it because I couldn't get the thing loaded to my MacBook -Never ended up returning it either - was outside the allotted time.

Loved WD hard drives and never had a problem till this one. First got it, I formatted then transferred my data to it. Four hours later I tried using it again and no disks starting up and no light powering. Sticking to Seagate once I get my data off this drive

I just owned this hard drive over one year. And it suddenly stopped working. So I lose all my data and WD refused to send me the replacement first to recover the data even it is still under garantee. Very disappointed. I have no idea what I can do to recover the data. So trust me! Don't buy this brand at all.

After only a few months this device was not recognized by any computer at all and I can't retrieve any of my data without paying over $500 at Best Buy's Geek Squad and I bought this device from Best Buy. I have contacted the manufacturer and they want to charge for the malfunction of their product. I am so very disappointed and will never purchase from this company ever again.

I'm only giving it 5 stars insofar as it satisfied my objective extremely well, which was to expand storage for my PS4. I have 53 titles on Xbox1 and 17 titles on PS4. The reason is that the PS4 only recently updated the software to accommodate external storage. Pretty stupid that they waited, right? But better late than never, and that's another review. The point is that this was incredibly easy to set up on PS4. The downloads were fast and the formatting was a cinch. It was recognized by the gaming system immediately from settings. Bear in mind that this is the only function intended for the drive and won't be used elsewhere so the 5 star rating might not be accurate with respect to other purposes.

Stopped working and the cost to fix is almost the same as buying another one.

After 4 months of using to back up my laptop files, drive died. Keeps telling me drive needs to be formatted to use. All backup data lost. Replaced it with newer WD external, which died the first time I used it (case so flimsy, shell compressed while moving it with thumb and one finger while transferring files, grinding noise and drive trashed). WD quality on their external drives has gone into the toilet. Avoid

It works but it takes way too long to be recognized by a PC. And it seems to go to sleep during any short inactivity.

It didn't work as I needed or thought it would. User error on my part.

I thought that I had brought another brand. I have had nothing but issues with the WD hard drives as they just stop working and you lose everything.

I needed to back up my computer in a hurry because it was dying. Ordered this online. Was told 2 day delivery. Arrived 5 days later. Installed on computer and my antivirus marked it as spyware. Took it to geek squad and they installed it. Spyware again. Returned it and bought a Samsung T5. No problem now.

well a month later and everything in this drive is inaccessible. thank god its the backup of a backup so I'm just going to format it and see how it performs the following month but honestly I don't feel like I can trust it anymore

I could not get this hard drive to work. I have Mac so I’m not sure if that’s why I had an issue, never had issues with other WD drives

Horrible! This is the one and only review I have ever written so here goes. Don’t go with the easy store drives unless u are going to treat it like a desktop drive and never move it anywhere. Deff not portable. I bought this a few months ago and finally got around to using it last month. Got the click of death today so all in all, a month’s worth of usage is all I got from it.

Don't make the mistake of buying this to work with a Mac unless you want headaches

When I plugged the new drive in my laptop couldn’t recognize it. Called their customer service. The representative instructed me to install a software but still didn’t work. Had to return the drive. The customer service at bestbuy told me she had similar issues. Well, I felt slightly better with my luck.

bought 2 weeks ago , and just stopped working took to geek sqd and told 500.00 to fix and retrieve data, they said the company product is not good one. (so why is that the only kind they sell in store ? )

Stopped working after 2 years. Lost my data. Would not recommend.
