    Works as it should but...

I'm happy with the drive's performance. It works just as it should. However, I was a bit disappointed about the actual storage capacity. It's advertised as a 4TB hard drive but you only actually get 3.6TB. That's 400GB of storage that is missing. I understand they are approximations, but WD is still selling hard drives that are around 400-500 GB. If you're gonna sell a 3.6TB hard drive, advertise it as a 3.6TB hard drive.

    I love it

I didn't know that this would be that good of one. Because I don't know which one is a top brand. But I love this! I was able to install everything on my laptop in about one hour or less I think. So fast I love it. Mine is 1TB. Never knew it would be this fast. Because when I used thumbdrives it would take 2 days for me too.

Slowest external HD I've ever used

The slowest usb external drive I have ever used. I get 5-30 MBps transfer speeds with it on usb 3.0. I only use this drive for backup and after the first few minutes of decent data transfer speed it falls on it's face. You can't remove it from it's enclosure and use it with a sata interface. The usb interface is soldered to the pcb

Not happy with one drive that I purchased

One of the drives that I purchased became unreadable on my Mac. I lost a ton of data, but luckily backed it up. Use this drive as a backup only drive... Don't risk losing your data. This drive can be unreliable, but it's a good price. Thankfully, it is covered under warranty, and WD are sending me a replacement drive. Buy a BB warranty, if it's not too pricey, for peace of mind.

    Works great with iMac

This USB storage device is fast and stably connecting; connection is solid and has never dropped off. Data transfer is super fast. You have to format it to FAT32 in order to transfer data between iMac AND to be able to viewed on your Smart TV. In order to do so, you need to partition to two, then reformat. With this, the device cannot be recognized by Blu-ray DVD player, however, movie files are playable on the Smart TV.

In PS4, drive hiccups in cut scene playback

    Posted .

I purchased this drive as expanded storage for my PS4 pro and fully intended to play games directed of the WD drive. For the majority of games it is functional; however, games that are heavy in cut scenes playback falters noticeably. For example, in Kingdom Hearts for the PS4 every time there is a scene or camera angle change the scene freezes for a fraction of a second. It is just enough to take you completely out of the experience (as a comparison such freezing does not occur with the stock internal drive that comes with the system). I image this drive is suitable for the majority of uses, but gaming is not one of them

    Very unreliable hard drive

the external hard drive failed in the first 2 hours of using. We already have over 700G of sensitive data transferred to this failed drive. WD customer support is not able to replace this hard drive without sending this failed disk back. With sensitive information already copied on the disk, we CANNOT send it back. -- If you want save you some trouble, please DO NOT buy this one.

Redesigned from the original Easystores THANK GOD

I am reviewing the Easystore I actually bought. Thankfully, it looks as if what Best Buy is selling was redesigned because the one I bought had a case shaped like a book, and even had legs which made you think it was supposed to be standing up like a book. GUESS WHAT!!!!? The book design had a major flaw as in if you even barely brush the tippy top the unit will indeed TIP OVER AND TAKE A DIVE ON THE FLOOR. How do I know this? Because it happened to me. The case breaks, and the hard drive became a paper weight. I AM DONE WITH ANYMORE WD PRODUCTS because of this stupid stupid design flaw.

Go for a hard drive with usb type c

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please please do not buy this hard drive. I have 6-7 year old toshiba hard drive that still work with heavy use. This hard drive lasted me about 1 year and then the port where you plug in the usb 3.0 started glitching. I used different cords and it didn’t help. So we lost some of our family pictures. Instead I went and bought sandisk ssd hard drive. 1tb for $99 with usb type c connection. Seems to me that usb type c would be more better and last longer. Never buying this brand again.

Lemons are out there, avoid if possible.

Don’t let the positive reviews fool you; there are lemons out there and if you get one it’s utterly miserable. My unit had intermittent issues since day one, but a year to day after I bought it it’s completely stopped working. All attempts to recover it and get it to work have failed, and after 4 hours of troubleshooting I decided to warn others off of it. Losing everything stored on a hard drive that you bought so that you wouldn’t lose everything in a failure is awful. Incredibly disappointed.

I do not recommend WD products at all.

I bought one and it lasted a whole 6 days before it started clicking. So I do not recommend Western Digital products at all. They are not durable. The slightest drop or impact can damage them. Then if you go to WD's website, you will find hundreds of complaints about them quitting with clicking sounds like mine and WD support does not seem to be responsive at all. Their website is even full of bugs.
