A HUGE amount of storage for the money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an old-school computer user that has learned the importance of system backups that are reliable, frequent, and redundant. This external WD drive gives me all the room I need to store image backups as well as automatic incremental backups of individual files that have changed. I use a mix of local backups and cloud storage to make sure my files are protected. I've had many bad experiences with high-capacity Seagate drives and have had much better luck with Western Digital products. (That's just my opinion, and other people may have different experiences with these companies.) Seagate products have been so unreliable for me that I'm unlikely to ever purchase another one. I'll stick with Western Digital.

Confirmed to have WD Reds and 256 MB Cache
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these based on may reports that theses actually contain NAS Red drives. and DriveDX on my iMac confirms this. The Made in Thailand ones are the preferred one as they contain 256MB Cache vs the Made in China ones that come with 128 MB. This really makes little no difference with occasional small file transfers but will improve transfer times if you are moving a lot of files at once. These drives do make a slight "click" sound every 5-6 seconds and that's been confirmed to be normal.
