Excellent product. I was reading reviews and watching videos of people who say it is very difficult to connect to Mac. In my experience, I did not any problems at all. Works perfect after erasing the product with Disk Utility. Love it... One struggle is the speed.. not bad but it takes a bit long time to transfer large files. Again, not too bad :)

What can you say Western Digital. They put out one of the best hard drives on the market especially the Reds that came inside the 8 terabyte USB external drive. I ended up buying 4 for a new nas setup

I was fully aware that the capacity labeled 8TB is not what you're getting. Having said that, why don't manufactures such as WD, Seagate and so on be more up front in their descriptions. The markets, meaning the Consumers have tolerated this and manufactures have continued with this misleading practices. On the technical sides from materials used, manufacturing process and programming, I can expect some tolerance. 8TB to 7.2TB, that's a good chunk of disk space that I paid but not getting. This was why I rated a 4 out of 5 stars. Now, for my reasons for selecting the 8TB WD external hard drive: Product reviews, quality of the product, price and company's track records. I owned many external hard drives from Western Digital, Seagate, Acomdata and some off brand. The Western Digital and Seagate have been the most reliable. Data that I have lost due to hard drives dying on me was worth more than the units I stored them in. With the two above mentioned external hard drive, I have more confidence and faith that it will perform it's intended purposes with time proven reliability.

This is an excellent hard drive that is easy to use. The only problem I had was at initial installation. Performance of the system was poor, the bluetooth connectivity was seriously impacted, the keyboard basically not working. Not much help looking around; however, one article indicated there was a Windows version and an Apple version: maybe I got the Apple version. A quick formatting of the drive took care of the performance issues. Backup works well and because I use the drive primarily for backing up, I uninstalled the other 2 programs Overall it is a dependable device.

The storage I get from this hard drive is great. Great buy.

good large capacity for backup VM and PC images and setup is really quick basically just plug, power up then play.

A big solid high capacity drive. It uses an external power supply and is the size of a very large paperback book, so it takes up space, but is reasonable fast and quite. It has a lot of room for storage and can be used as a drive or you can use the auto-backup software included (I didn't)/ So far, no problems.

I bought this to 'shuck' it so I could use it in my NAS. While the drive does work fine for this, you need to know a couple things. First of all I did not get a WD Red, the one I have has a white label. These are becoming more common. The cache on mine is 256MB, but 128MB cache is also becoming more common. Second of all, these drives may not work with your power supply. If you read up on these white-label drives, you will see that you may either need to apply tape to some of the pins on the power connector or use a IDE to SATA converter to power it, otherwise it will not work correctly. It's still good for it's price, I'm just disappointed they don't use Reds like they used to.

This external hard drive performs excellent. Feel secure having it on all the time when connected to my computer. It is compact and does not interfere with other attachments.

Very small footprint, quiet, instantly recognized by windows 10, and a brand that has never failed me. Was surprised that the Light just blinks.... all the time...whether I am using it or not. But I ready that this normal. Would buy again.

This hard drive comes on sale regularly for 150 bucks. Wait for that sale, and you will never regret buying this. The 4tb version I believe goes on sale from 300 to 70 bucks? So worth it.

Bought this to backup media files and movies to clear space on my main harddrive.. it's got plenty of space and with the USB 3.0 connector i can transfer huge quantities of files in no time...

Very high quality product. I purchased this one to work from and wanted something durable, high speed and light so it is easy to carry. So far, it has met all expectations. Great product and would recommend.

This hard drive was a great deal when I bought it. I love Western Digital and this hard drive works as expected.

Got this drive to strap on to a mini pc to run as a media server, and it works excellent. Fairly quiet for a desktop drive, and so far working perfectly. Always go for WD!

I purchased this hard drive for an external drive for my PS4. It works great! The games transferred over to the hard drive without any issues.
