Massive HDD, I use this as my backup mass storage. I would recommend this.

Great product. My old finally died. This was a great replacement. Truly Plug & Play.

Replacement drive for one I purchased in Jan 2020. The previous drive failed in just over two years. Drives made in the mid 2000s used to last about 5 years.

It servers the purpose it was purchased for, but was difficult to set up/add to my network. Inckuded instructions are poor at best.

Works as expected. Hope it doesn't crash since all of my photos and videos are on it. I look forward to the day that an ssd this large is this cheap.

Awesome capacity - 8 TB! Additionally, it had WD Red inside, so high quality NAS grade HDD for higher reliability.

Amazing amount of storage and not too big either works for all my game systems.

This would be a easy 5 star but there are some things that essentially take it out of the "perfect" for me. Couple things in my experience with this device. One would be the plug ins, as this device sits on my desk, I don't use it that often other then just to store files on so I don't have it plugged in, and for me personally I think about how many times I will have to re plug over the course of owning this item and think the plugs will end up breaking before the device does. My only solution is to keep the power cord and the usb cord attached to the unit, so I have to keep the power cord and the usb cable attached to the back at all times until needing to use. I have to mention when I first tried to plug in the usb to the back of this unit it was scary because of the force needed to plug the usb piece in, I thought "wow, am I going to break the plug". The second thing why this isn't perfect is because the WD easystore is not a plug and play device, meaning you can't plug it into usb any time to access the hard drive, it needs to boot up with the computer, so instead of just plugging it into the usb you have to shutdown the computer, plug it in, start the computer. For some reason I had the impression this was a plug and play and not a boot up device, and this information hadn't been apparent when purchased. speed, I do love the fact of the "sleep"-"standby" so it will wake up when you access it instead of running continuously when not used, but does need to spin up from sleep mode and does take the "8" seconds. As far as the transfer rate, my personal experience is that it is mildly slow for ME, Windows file transfer moves the files at 22MBPS tops, about 1GB per minute (unverified data) so 2-5GB worth of stuff does take 2-5 minutes. This is a great item and I highly recommend it to someone that needs a storage device, it comes preformatted for windows(10) so you can use it right out of the package just copy and paste or cut and paste and drop the files you want directly onto it. size appears larger then actual, it's the size of a normal hard drive with a hard shell around it about 7"x6"x3". Only used on Windows 10, I have read that Mac users need to format before using and have trouble doing so. When you buy this make sure that it is wrapped in cellophane if purchased BRAND NEW!! As a back up I wanted to buy a second 8TB, waited until it was deal of the day at $119.99, but purchased from Best-Buy On ebay (it came sealed with 2 stickers=Used/refurbished), well the best buy customer service told me that the sales through the ebay store is a separate affiliate/entity and they couldn't do anything for me. Great value at only $17.50 per TB, wish I could have kept the second one

8 gig for so cheap... I've got 3 and this was the largest capacity and cheapest price amazing

I bought two of these hard drives form Macs. They are working now and seem to be great. The only issue I had on both units was formatting the drives. Both had problems and I had to recover them from other drives to make them usable. So basically they should be made easier to format but once done seem to work fine.

I use Western Digital drives to back up all my data. Would recommend.

A whopping 8 TB of storage from an external enclosure that contains a WD Red drive. Zero complaints. Great value.

I’ve only downloaded files. I have not yet tried to retrieve them. Cannot answer most of the questions yet. Just don’t know.

Bought this to use on my PS4 and it works amazing. Had no problems with connecting and enjoying.

I bought this to have a backup for my NAS. I was hoping to use this connected to another computer to allow some space separation between the two hardware devices, but alas the software doesn't support backups over a network. Once I got past that disappointment, the device was very easy to set up and configure for scheduled regular backups. I am not using the supplied backup software anymore (as it didn't work for what I was trying to do), but that would have worked fine for data on a 'regular' computer. I've not been using it very long so I don't know about endurance over time but so far it's doing exactly what I bought it to do with no issues (just not quite how I was hoping it would do it).

Love it I want to use it for movie and tv storage. I am in the process of migrating my entire video collection well see if it all fits
