I bought this external hard drive to use for system backups. It does the job very well. I do not use the provided backup software, but rely on other software. The drive is well ventilated and does not get abnormally hot during the limited time I use it. During use, it is very quiet. The only cons I have about this drive is its shiney black plastic housing. It shows fingerprints with the slightest touch. I would have preferred a matte black finish; anything to lessen the fingerprint issue. And like other external hard drives from Western Digital, Seagate and Toshiba, it lacks an on/off switch so you have to unplug the power brick when not in use. Other than that, I am totally satisfied with this drive.

Looking for something large, here it is - 8TB drive. I got two for backup. No problem after months of using it.

Faster transfer speeds than I expected. It can be a bit noisey in a completely quiet house, but luckily I don't have a completely quiet home to often!

Easy to set up. Straight forward harddrive, just plug and play not like others with lots of security set up.

We bought this 8tb external hard drive to go with a new iMac we bought. We have only had this for a couple of weeks. But so far it has performed flawlessly! The drive came formatted for Windows, so I had to reformat it to work properly on the iMac. But that was simple, and it has worked perfectly ever since. It will be nice to have all my data in one place again, with my old drives as backup!

8 TB is exactly what I needed not too much not too little good price at 139. Around 2019 I bought one for 159 still a good deal. Even when not on sale. Comes with software on the website such as recovery data and power options. Haven't really messed with them but I seen them there. There's a couple of reviews on YouTube that are good to watch.

Lots of storage for all your photos and videos. Easy to use, just drag and drop.

Typical Western Digital quality. Using it in our streaming/Twitch/Facebook gaming business to store the most exciting and worthwhile games.

Open them up to reveal WD Reds... Awesome for NAS. Save alot when it was on sale for $179 so far no issue.
