I set up this drive to automatically sync with my computer to store edited photos. I also use it to backup raw photos from SD cards. It runs in the background and does what it's supposed to do. One thing a had to do, because I live in a dry and dusty area, is make a filter from a sheet of computer fan, foam filter material and wrapped it around the vented edges of the drive. Helps to keep dust and pet hair out of it.

WD is the best bargain for external storage at an amazing price. Cant beat it. Easy Setup and use.

Very easy to set up and use. Love the tons of storage space. I don't use for video games so can give no opinion on that usage. Transferring files and doing backups is very quick. When reading reviews in determining whether to purchase or not, many reviews complained about the noise the unit makes. I have not noticed and noise coming from the unit and it is running most of the time and is located in close proximity to me.

Drive is fine. It's the White label that seems relatively comparable to the Reds. They run hot.

Made the mistake of buying a competitors external drive … Quickly reverted back to western digital. Outstanding product

No problems so far, works as advertised, just plug and play. Working right out of the box.

I have not had it long enough to know how long it will last, but plan to put it to rigorous testing. The internal drive says WD RED like other NAS drives, but the PCB and lack of breather hole indicate that the drive is likely helium-filled ( hitachi ) technology. The PCB looks like Hitachi PCBs.

WD 8 tb external hard drive is a great drive . A Lott of storage and secure. The price is very good

The hard disk is fast. It is formatted with NTFS, to use it with Mac, you have to reformat it; however, there is some challenge to reformat it with latest Mac OS (High Sierra version 10.13.2), follow as current WD website instruction to reformat for Mac OS won't work. ( WD may update their docmentation later). It always resumes error as "MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation."; this is due to EFI partition < 200MB. To fix the issue you have to use dd command line command to fix the issue ( Google the MediaKit error message then you will find the solution online ). For this reformatting issue, I gave it a 3 points.

The value of this enormous hard drive is much greater than it's actual cost, which is just over $100. If it performs reliably I belive it to be a great investment.

There is a lot of storage space for your pictures and home videos and other backup that you need. This is not the small portable laptop version but it sits nicely on a desk and requires a separate ac outlet to work. It makes a clicking noise on data access once in a while but it's quiet otherwise.

This WD storage is really amazing. It is not only huge space, fast and nice looking as well

Price was good at the time. And setup is easy. Would recommend to increase the memory for the Xbox.

This is the cheapest and most reliable 8tb harddrive out there. Hands down. Nothing comes close.

This 8tb drive can store tons of files and is very easy to use.

Using it for computer backup - certainly a great price and smaller than I anticipated. I have gotten errors a couple of times about not being able to complete a backup. But I just restart everything & it works fine. My computer repair person recommended it so I really didn't do much research.

It works. I have bought 2 others. They work well and have hsd no problem.

A great storage drive for holding digital movies or music. I've never had a problem with western digital and many problems with Seagate drives.

Bought this for my ps5 because of the limited hard drive space. Hopefully it will do the job since I have a drive on my ps4 already
