I shucked and I shucked.. the white drives inside were like pearls in an oyster. Granted they're not the highest quality pearls. 5400rpm and still need that tape over the 3rd pin (see youtube if you don't know what i'm talking about). But overall, the 5400rpm drives were supposed to better if you have a RAID 5, 6, or 10 NAS setup. Less heat = longer lasting drives.

I've had this for a about 2 months now. When connected to a USB 3.0 port this transfers quickly. It also has backup software included that is easy to use and automatically backs up.

I was looking for a storage solution to backup my computers at home and also store my media that I have collected over the years to include the millions of photographs of my family and trips over the years. This has plenty of space and I can transfer files very fast. I currently have it hooked up to my wireless router and use it as a networked storage to all my devices.

This is a cheapest way to get 8TB of storage in to your computer. Just shuck and place the drive in your computer case. In my case, I did not have to do anything with the pin voltage, but I have read that you may have to do a work around in order for it to work. I high recommend getting this, looking up the video on how to shuck the drive and enjoy 8TBs of goodness.

Great amount of storage for the price. Easy setup and great for a backup system.

I was debating on getting a/c powered backup vs. USB powered. I learned from my son's online research that this particular 8TB unit had "Red" graded hard drives. I plan to use this drive strictly for master archival storage (migrating smaller WD Passport USB only drives to it.) It has worked flawlessly and I am very happy. The a/c adapter situation is not an issue, as I only use it when I need to migrate data from the smaller drives.

After a run of bad luck with Seagate drive failures I decided to switch to Western Digital. I'm glad I did. The drives are silent and at 8TB they are great for large backups. They even look good. I think the vertical form factor also allows for better cooling for longer life. Oh, and most importantly these have the Red drives recommended for Network Attached Storage (NAS) which means that they should last a lot longer.

So this Harddrive I got during the one deal before christmas for $129. It's 8TB which means it can hold a ton of pictures, artwork, books and anything else. It's read and write speeds are decent enough for transferring data over night and knowing it'll be finished by the morning. They are shuckable which is cool too. I've recommended this to a ton of friends who want to download their whole steam library in one place.

This product does precisely what it is designed to do. It provided me with fast access to a ton of storage and actually helped me expand my total storage capabilities. So far this has been an excellent external hard drive. If you're looking at getting a high capacity external hard drive, this one works great and I recommend it. If you're looking for a DJI Mavick Pro, don't buy this. It totally sucks at being a drone..

This is the second Western Digital external hard drive I have purchased. The first one saved all my records when my old PC crashed. I was able to restore everything, including over 30,000 photos. This newer version drive is larger capacity, and appears to have similar software, which was easy to use for restoring. It does not appear to allow synchronous updates, but I can set it to backup on the hour. I would recommend it.

Needed to expand memory for Xbox One. Connected easily. Problem solved. Decent price also.

Good sequential speed at 150-200MB/s for copying large files but it seems like the controller adds latency to seeks, making small file copying slower than an internal drive. Overall good value and not too hot or loud.

I bought this expandable storage for my ps4 it has being a great choice. I like to buy games from the PlayStation store and some games can take up a lot of memory so having this 8tb portable storage i dont have to worry about running out of memory . This is a good buy and even better if you can buy it when it goes on sale.

These 8tb drives have been my go to for my NAS drives. The cost per GB is outstanding and, at least the one I got, are not SMR.

I hesitated because of a bad experience with a WD product years ago. However, I'l so glad that I purchased this to store videos and important documents. The instructions for setting up confused me but I got a very helpful WD customer support person by phone to assist. For several weeks, I've been loading videos directly from a chip inserted into my laptop -- bypassing my overloaded hard drive. I would purchase again.

I bought this to go to my XBOX one. Before I had the 4TB and it worked very well. But I have a lot of games downloaded and it was almost full so I bout the 8TB for more memory.

This is the second Easystore 8TB that I own. It's been relaible and easy to use.
