I bought 2 for my gaming systems. This is a Powered Hard drive and great for meeting the needs of anyone looking to backup Games from an Xbox 1S. Note: Updates may take longer after games are moved because you are backing up at the speed of the USB transfer rate and not just speed from Internet to console. Light on front is constant when on and blinks when in stasis/ idle mode.

Runs way to hot. I leave my computer on overnight and the hard drive is over 55 degrees when I use it in the morning. Under load it goes over 60 degrees.

Works great with Linux Debian 10 (buster). I use it with ZFS snapshots and it's a great backup drive.

1st, kudos to Best Buy for safe and hassle free curbside pickup. As for the WD drive.. The (sale) price per TB was attractive and the performance has been very good. I plugged it in to the USB port on my router and leave it on all of the time. It is a great backup destination for all of the computers in the house. Poor Man's NAS!

This is a solid product for long time storage. The hard drive alone is three hundred dollars. Word of caution though. Make sure you use the power cord and USB cord that comes with the product. I tried using older power cords from past hard drives. They will fit but do not carry enough current to properly function without errors. So far so good. I highly recommend. Especially when they are on sale

I am a landscape photographer and I bought this drive to back up a raid that Where I have all of my professional photos Stored. This drive is fast enough and large enough to even store my RAW original files. Highly recommend this drive. Also I have bought some in the past to shuck and install in a raid. They work well in there too.

Great product just not so much compatible with IMac. It does not know when to turn back on after the computer sleeps. I always have to disconnect and connect back.

Simple drive and fast drive it does not encrypt the drive so if the controller fail you can swap it out with another one . 2 year warranty is also good too

Incredibly easy to use. I don't use the WD software, I just drag and drop because I am very particular about file paths, but for the peace of mind having all of my files, computers, and images backed up, this is a great price. It feels more well built than the other portable drives you can get. Faster speeds thanks to being powered.
