I use it as a Media Storage. Works great right out of the box. Mine was made in Thailand and had a WD80EFAX red drive in it. The WD80EFAX supposedly has a 256MB cache as compared to the WD80EFZX which has a 128MB cache and is made in China.You can remove the HDD and use it as an internal drive. Just took the case apart and you got a great WD Red hardrive out of it. The drive is super quiet, you won't even hear it running. Plenty of storage and good transfer rate - very nice drive.

Had a 2 TB drive and was getting full so saw this on sale, picked it up and had been working fine so far. Does take a bit when you first start up the ps4 to sort things out but there is a lot of space to run through

This was purchased to replace a 4 TB WD external drive that has filled up flawlessly. This 8 TB connected to the XBOX 1 along with the 4 TB and has been working perfectly as I expect from WD. We also own a 5 TB that has been used for over a year on another XBOX 1 and it has been perfect. Excellent buy!

I purchased two of these. One is always connected to may computer and the other has a backup of the same files. Sometimes I connect the other one to my other media devices to play music and videos. For the price it's a massive amount of storage. It's not super fast compared to ssd and can be a be a bit loud sometimes, but I'd still recommended for backup of media, such as photos, videos, music, etc.

WD has always been my go to company for any HD needs. They have the lowest failure rate and been dependable. Great buy

Great Product Works as advertised Definitely recommend

Overall 4.5 of 5 stars. The product itself is great. I bought a 2TB portable set up for Mac, which worked right out of the box, but since this specific 8TB is a product for Mac OR Microsoft, it wasn’t preset for Mac. I have no issues with the product, just had an extra 30-60 minutes of trying to find what was needed to properly change the settings to work with my Mac. A little googling worked, but wish WD had better instructions and an easier / clearer manual/faq section. Overall, great buy !

Added this 8tb bad boy to my PS4 hard drive so I wouldn't have to delete and (re)download games onto the main hard drive or a smaller one. Won't be as fast as the SSD I put in the system, but good for the extra games I don't play as often.

Reliable hard drive for storage. I didn't need any high speeds but wanted a drive for storage for my gaming console. It works perfectly for that so I'd recommend picking one up if you need it and don't care that it requires power and is a little larger.

Definitely worth works on my ps5 now i can store all the ps4 games that i own.

Easy to connect and get started. I like these drives because they can be taken out of the container and put inside the computer without losing the format.
