WD is my favorite brand of external HD. The quality of the product and tech support surpass seagate hands down.

I purchased this huge hard drive from Best Buy during the Black Friday sale. It was cheap considering the size. I could not resist buying it. I have not used it vet. want to be able to use it for both PC and Mac. I trust the "Western Digital" name..t should be a great drive for both machines.

I purchased the wd easystore external back up drive as gifts. I currently have 3 and purchase 2 for relatives before the price went back up. Best buy had the best price almost half off the original to let price. As expected the price went back up after 011518. Good thing I stopped by to check out the item.

Great as always! Looking forward to lower prices and larger sizes.

I got it on sale and it's a lot of storage for the money. That being said, it seems to open slower than my other drives. Wouldn't recommend it for videos.

Needed extra large hard drive for movie storage. This is a great item, works great and the price is fantastic.

Needed to replace an external drive that had failed and needed to increase my overall storage as well. Bought 2 of these, one as the storage drive and one as the back up. Both worked as plug and play and the backup was very easy to setup. Backups are running as scheduled. Very happy with this purchase.

I use this for a backup of my laptop files . Unit is fast and responsive.

I have cut the cord and kicked DIrectv to the curb. I wanted to keep the portion that I thought was best which was the DVR. I purchased an OTA DVR but it needed a Hard Drive to store the video on. I purchased this drive and I have a huge amount of space to store everything I want to record. It is awesome.

I originally bought the WD - easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive for fast access to my large data base of information and apps. At the same time, I was backing up everything online for disaster recovery. The online storage is excellent but after a couple of terabytes it begins to take days to transfer the data even with 100 MB+ Internet speed. So I as an experiment I backed up everything to my easystore and it took a about 1/2 day for the first backup but the following backups took only minutes. To solve the disaster recovery requirement I bought a second easystore and swap them every X days. I keep the off site easystore in a safe deposit box. I get fast, safe disaster recovery at a low cost.

Pro: An great amount of space to backup and store your files! Con: I don’t mind it having a separate power adapter for it to function, I just think the usb cable that is comes with is too short. Would have been great to have a longer cable to place it where I want.

I have four external drives for my wifes many terrabytes of photos and all are used as Backup drives with one as a primary library. I have been fortunate with all of the drives and needed one additional for a full backup of her Mac. Many of the reviews on this particular drive mentioned noise as an issue. I have never had this with my other WD's so gave this a chance as the price for an 8tb drive was simply too good to not try. Fortunately I have after a month encountered no issues and the drive has not exhibited any of the negatives others have experienced. A bit warm but nothing extraordinary. Easy to format to Mac Journaled OS. Full time Machine back up took 3 days due to the volume of raw photos but once complete all is good and Time Machine backing up with no problems bouncing between two drives. Well worth the price and yes the drive has the Reds. At this price It would be worth buying two.I suggest you Copy the WD included software to a separate file just in case you may want it later as It is gone after formmating.

Using it as an game storage for Xbox One S. 8TB gives ample space for all games. original 500GB was hard to manage. Working well so far after about month use. Hope it lasts long.

Seems very similar to my WD My Book I've had for years, but not quite. I tried to reformat it for Mac and I couldn't. There's no instructions in the box explaining that. I went to the website and did everything it told me to and it still didn't reformat. It ended up being a good thing since I've had to go back and forth recently between my Mac and PC laptop. I bought this as a backup drive since my other one is getting old and so far it's handling it's purpose.

This drive seems to be really nice. I did have some issues getting the software setup and there might be a connectivity issue. It could just be related to my unit so I will probably try an exchange.

Needing this for back up of my computers. This is my secondary back up and so far it has been working great!
