This is a great external drive and offers good reliability since it is externally powered, but be warned you do not get the full 8TB or storage advertised due to a partition hidden on the drive itself, most likely for its own processing. I am using this as a dual purpose drive, I have a 1TB partition for a backup (Using a 500 gig drive for the 0s) and the rest (roughly 7.75TB) for game and other file storage. The included backup software seems to work fine but there are certain file types that it cannot store and it does alert you of this which is nice. It backs up everything else and simply ignores what it cannot. All in all I really like it and would recommend it, but at its price I would wait for a sale before buying it, or if you can get away with a little less space get a lower capacity drive from the same series.

This is the best it is small with a lot of space. Downloaded all games still have space.

Plugged it into my PS4 and now have a LOT of space. Worked great, really plug and play.

These WD 8TB drives are great. You can use them as is with USB support. You can also easily remove the drive from the enclosure and place into a home NAS device. (Although it voids the warranty) - much cheaper than buying an 8TB bare. WD is a solid brand.

I have four of these guys shucked out of their cases and living in a four bay NAS for my Plex server. The price can't be beat when they're on sale. Bonus points: I've sold two of the cases and guts on that auction site. Nothing goes to waste.

Western Digital one of the best external hard drives.

I finally broke down and bought an external drive. This drive is quiet and looks good in my desk. It's a little overpriced, but if you can find it on sale, then it's worth buying. At 8tb, this drive holds almost every 1 and 0 that I downloaded the last 8 months via Comcast (they only allow for 1TB). So this 8tb drive is bigger than Comcast!

Only one I use. Don't go cheaper on the other version. There's a reason why it's lower.

The hard drive was good for the price. Plenty of storage space.

I purchased this external to put several of my other external drives onto one location. It works just great for this purpose. It is a full size drive so putting it into a safe place for security or fire protection might pose a bit of a challenge but I rate this highly.

I have order 20 of these over the last year or so and I have yet to have one go bad. Each has been run through 2x preclear cycles (a process where the drive is checked for errors and each sector is written to and read from) and have had no issues. Great product.

I was looking for a way to consolidate data and photos from six desktoops, three tablets and a chromebook. The WD easystore with 8 GB was the most efficient and inexpensive solution I could find. It is easy to move between devices and BestBuy had the best price.

Immense capacity, fast read/write (over USB 3.0). Very quiet and cool operation. Looks nice too. Very satisfied so far (needs to show that it's reliable over time, which I fully expect to be the case - I have had very good experiences with WD drives in the past)

I am in IT, and I have always told people to have backups. This is a great, reliable drive to keep backups. Inside are Western Digital Red/White drives which are known for reliability. I am able to make consistent backups with this drive.

Pretty much plug it in and you're good to go. Took longer to route the cords under my desk. I use other backup software, so I can't comment on the included WD software. I'm expecting the same 4-5 year life of the many WD external drives I bought over the years.

seasonably priced and easy to use disk storage. try to use usb 3 if your pc supports it.
