Was faster than my old hard drive which was a Seagate. I will be buying a WD again in the future

As I recall, WD still puts their red-series hard drives in these external enclosures and uses non-SMR for sizes above 6TB. If you want to get a replacement drive for a NAS or just local RAID array, definitely make sure you don’t get an SMR drive. They are terrible performers in RAID arrays and will only cause you issues. Purchasing these 8+ TB external hard drives is one of the most economical ways to get your hands on some of Western Digital’s best NAS and RAID drives. If you would like to purchase this hard drive to replace a drive in an existing array, fear not, for it uses CMR and will be fine for really any of your uses. If you plan to use this as an external drive, you should be fine regardless of the size you purchase since the difference between CMR and SMR should be negligible when the drive is used on its own.

I use a pair of these as additional external backups for my RAID Array in my desktop media server. I get good transfer rates and have had much better experience with reliability than previous generations of external drives which seemed to develop bad sectors regularly.

Currently using this drive to automatically backup family photos/movies, and other important files. Heard about the dependability and bit on this drive for $159.99. So far so good!

I love this device- plugs in to a USB and allows me to copy my files from other discs I have my my big PC - I organized now by year, month, and day on this new drive. It is a copy of what I have, but better organized for protection and for uses to create new images and graphics

These were really WD 8TB red drives for a great price. Very reliable and loads of storage.

I purchased this external harddrive for my son for christmas this year because although we box the 1TB Xbox one it fills up quickly having to always download content from the games. Setting it up is easy and works great, my son loves he has so much room for more game storage now.

Set up was easy but I haven’t begun using it as add a title?yet.

Bought these on sale for about 200 bucks each, a great deal as they contain WD Red 8TB drives, which by their own go for much more! Just know that the manufacturer warranty on these is much shorter than on standalone drives.

This 8tb drive is working perfect. Its set to back automatically.

This storage device works great especially for the PS4. It uses a usb slot but u can fit all of your games. I downloaded 80+ games and still got lots of room. The storage is amazing but u don’t have to buy the 8 TB, u can buy the 4 TB and still have your games downloaded

After having tried another external drive that I simply could not get to work at all, I purchased this one after returning the first. This drive is easy to use, and makes large backups very quickly through a USB-3 port. I am very pleased with it.
