Excellent value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Best Buy easystore 8tb is like fantastic corn. I really love the value for the money and it’s easy to go nuts for a drive like this! This is the type of product there are raids for on Black Friday. Buy three or more and you can have a party.

Bought for shucking
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In case you don't know ...shucking is removing the internal hard drive from the enclosure. Strangely, companies charge significantly more for a bare internal drive than they do for these external ones. May be due to the fact that they can use any drive they want inside. Or that their warranties are typically not as long. Either way, after shucking this drive with my fingers crossed for the 8TB Red (NAS) drive as many have found in theirs, I encountered the white label drive instead. Based on the info on the label it appears to be an HGST 8TB Helium Data center drive at 7200rpm w/256MB of cache. So I figured I'd give it a shot since I've had great luck with the HGST 4TB drives in my home server. So far so good. I didn't need to tape off the 3.3v pin, and it's every bit as fast as the 4TB drives I have had running for years. I'll probably pick up another, but this at least got my raid array (10e) completed for the time being. Plus I got a nice external enclosure to use with another drive I had laying around!

Worked as expected
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it because the internal drive on my computer died and I as running on my backup. This drive became my new backup and has been running flawlessly. Waiting for the stay at home order to expire to get the internal drive replaced.

It worked fine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had zero issue with the operations of this drive, worked flawlessly. It was just a bit, slow, for my desires. Sure was GREAT to see that 8TB showing up though, that is a TON (!!) of space. The slower speed though, totally expected by the way (just forgot exactly HOW slow it was going to be), I did return it. If you need large amounts of slow space no doubt this is a great drive. Just wasn't for me.

Bulk Storage at a budget price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want a lot of storage for a good price, this is the HD for you. The simple design has stayed the same for many years now, but as a simple, single drive unit, nothing fancy is needed. There's a larger 10 TB version available too.

Good Drive at a Good Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend of mine told me that these external hard drives are easy to shuck so the physical disk can be used in a NAS or a desktop. Furthermore he told me that the enclosure can then be put back together with a different hard drive inside if you still want an external hard drive and have an appropriate HDD lying around. Despite having a DOA unit which had to be exchanged, I'm still happy with the purchase.

Bang for your Buck!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super price for a HUGE hard drive! Western Digital is and has been a solid brand that stands behind what they sell. I don't expect any problems but it is nice to know there will be someone there is issues arise.

Lots of Storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this based on positive reviews. I exceeded my current hard drive (4tb) containing pictures and videos. I was originally looking at a 6tb drive but saw this one on sale and with a WD Red Drive inside. Normally, I don't like extremely large drives like this because I would need a backup of equivalent size and if a failure happens. That is a lot of data to recover. But for the price I'm willing to take a chance. Originally I was going to pop the drive out and put it in my desktop. But before that, I wanted to transfer all my files to the new drive. I was surprised how fast it copied everything (4 tb + 2tb). I was so impressed, I decided to keep it as an external drive. For my purposes it works fine. Right now it is a backup of two drives of photos and videos. Why mess with breaking it out and installing in the PC. So far no issues and I can keep the data isolated from the PC. Great value for the money.

For Fanatics
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a ridiculous amount of music so I need serious storage. And until SSD prices come down, I'm sticking with external, spinning, hard drives. I've been burned by Seagate before so I tend to lean WD. And with 8 TB storage, this is just the thing for my library.
