There is the cloud there are thumb drives but to me the only way to back up your computer is to use the WD external hard drive. have it at home or on the road the internet is not always there for you to use but the WD is.

With a hard drive this size and this price i really dont mind the fact that it needs external power and that its not powered by the USB, and since i travel alot its also awesome that the ac adapter input range is so huge. Definitley worth

An easy, safe purchase at the pick up site. Not my first experience both five stars. This is the second time I have purchased this drive I have never had an issue and both drives function flawlessly.

I bought this to increase the storage on my PS4 and couldn't be happier. It runs very quiet, and my PS4 detected it as soon as I plugged it in. Formatted with no issue and have been running all my games off of it. It is highly recommended!

This hard drive was just what I needed for archiving old projects and documents. Compatible with my MAC and Windows machines. Lots of storage space for not that much money!

I've got several of these WD external drives (for many years now) and I've never been less than completely satisfied with speed, reliability, etc. Certainly would not hesitate to buy more of these drives, as needed. They just work! :-)

I've only had this a short time so I can't comment on its longevity, but my initial assessment is that it's a good deal for the price. These contain 8TB Red drives which should have the ability to run 24x7, but I use this as an extra backup device with infrequent power on time (may be connected once a week). I can't stress enough how important it is that you always have multiple copies of your important data. Never make the mistake of thinking that it's safe on any single drive; you must have redundancy, and ideally the more the better. The speed is as expected with standard USB 3.0 connectivity but there's no fan in the enclosure so if you're copying large amounts of data to the drive, make sure that you do it in a cool room and ideally with good air flow. The USB 3.0 connecting cable is approximately 4' long, so you might consider getting an extension cable (I did) if you need the extra length to insure the drive is placed in a cool spot or just for safe placement. I'm only giving it 4 stars because WD Red drives carry a 3 year warranty, but this device only includes a 2 year warranty which seems a little short. WD even provides 3 years on their passport drives which get thrown in backpacks and briefcases, so I think they can do a little better here. Overall I'm happy with the features of this drive and I'm glad BB is offering it. Recommended.

I had this for ps4 (four) and it was an amazing investment. Do not buy for the PS5 (five), that runs on a much more sophisticated SSD where as this is compatible with the ps4(four) HD

Got this 8TB USB 3.0 drive to replace my 4 TB USB 2.0 as it was slowing down my new Dell XPS 8930 desk top. It has done and excellent job in doing that and continues to work well. Backups ae so fast I do them much more often.

I was very skeptical, I wasn't sure this would actually work and last as my other WD quit after a year and I lost too many of my photos. This one appears to be a work horse. 8TB is sure nice to have for a photographer like me.

I have another one of these for my office and bought this for my home.

As a photographer, I believe in backups. I've got tons of images and other important files, and having multiple copies is important to me. This external USB 3.0 drive is quick, and has enough storage space for everything you want to back up.

I own an older one of these already and had to jump on this deal. The last one has lasted for over 5 years. Went through a few Seagates since then. The drive is fast and has a lot of cool software that comes with it.

Good for those who wants to use it at home and donot have to carry it.
