Have been looking for something like this for my hyperspin.

Don't pay over $150 for this. The ones in the cellophane are the ones for shucking. The boxes with the tape dots are whites but may be ok. Keep the shells, they can be reused for other HDDs if desired.

Like many have mentioned here before, the inside of this unit contains a bare Red or White WD 8tb Drive. I've purchased several of these and added them to a NAS. Great performance and even better price for the size.

I bought two of these and took the WD Red NAS drives out of them. One went into my Mac Pro, the other in my backup 4-bay drive box. They work great. And I was able to put other drives in the cases to use for other purposes.

I bought this for my PS4 and I’m not disappointed. I don’t have any loading or lagging issues. I have over 300 games downloaded and still about 2Tb remaining. Great for someone that owns all digital games like myself.

This drive holds a huge amount of information. Have had no problems with the drive and if I had need would not hesitate in purchasing another. Only drawback I've found is that it only supports USB connection and not eSATA3.

I bought this in a black Friday deal. Using for MAC, since I couldn't afford buying MAC with large storage. It expanded the Laptop storage. The only issue here is, it is not portable. You also have to connect to power every time you use it. Little bit noisy when it starts working. Still a lot more storage for this price point.

The drive inside mine is a WD80EZAZ, so my results below may vary from yours, if yours has a different model inside. Noise and thermals are fine, both in its case and transplanted to a SFF desktop. It does support PWDIS, aka has "the 3.3 volt issue," which only people who shuck need to know and plan around. It's CMR, not SMR, so it won't bog down ridiculously when the cache is full. Helium-filled, so I don't expect it to last more than five years, but that's still over twice the warranty period.

Got these on sale in Nov 2017, expecting these to have the WD Red drives in them. Bought 4 of them and had nothing but problems with them. Opened them up and they did not have the red drives in them. I was pretty disappointed. 600+$ down the drain. Tried using as is with the enclosure and had a ton of issues with my OS X computer. I will probably return the 2 that I didn't open yet and try to recoup some money from this.

Super hard drive storage solution with a good amount of space at 8TB. Finally, something that can handle all the data I can throw at it. I recommend this exteral HD to anyone with need for storage space!

Can’t say enough about this drive. The included software for auto backups works great using this with a Plex server and working great so far no complaints. Very good value when they’re onsale.

I was looking for a 8TB hard drive for long for my desktop and finally bought this hard drive during the Best Buy Black Friday in July at a very great price. This is exactly what I need for my desktop. Highly recommended.
