If you are buying this to shuck it it's an excellent deal as they contain the Western Digital Black HDD which is the performance version of WD drives

This is a great external hard drive for everything you need to backup.I been using it to backup photos,music,movies important documents.I really is the best way to store your memory’s Nuff said

After losing a considerable amount of data a couple years back I have decided to have redundant backups this 8tb drive is great for my offline backup.

I love the amount of space this provides me. As a pro Photographer I back up all my work to external drives. With the 8TB device I will not have to worry about running out of space for awhile.

I've been using this hard drive with my PS4 for the past few months without issue. Very speedy. Games load without issue and haven't had a hiccup. I highly recommend this hard drive.

I picked this drive up when it was on sale a while back, and I think it was worth the money for the storage it provides. I only use it for media for my Plex server. Luckily it's not in a room that I go in very often, because the power plug has a noticable high-pitched while. That's the only reason I took one star away.

I purchased this drive as I needed a new backup drive. It's a fantastic piece of tech and internally it contains a WD Red drive which is designed for Nas usage. Red drives have a 100,000 hour MTBF rating, which these drives may possibly not reach, which may be the reason WD is selling them as external drives. However I'm using it as an external drive and it does everything I need with up to 150 MB/s transfer rates. Remember drives are marked with 1,000 GB per TB while Windows uses base 2 counting for space so it'll report 7.2 Gb approximately of storage. You are getting 8,000 Gb of space, just not a true 8TB of space. All HDD have this discrepancy between Windows and marketing shorthand.

I picked this up on sale for $150 and love it! Every other year, I pick up a new hard drive to accommodate my photography library. I may be able to skip the next upgrade with all of this storage.

Works perfectly, straight out of the box. Decent length of power and USB cords. This holds so much that I was able to transfer 4 other drives onto it and still have a bunch of room to grow. (windows)

Bought this during a pretty good sale. Currently using it for Xbox One game storage. It has worked very well for me. Speeds are good and no reading errors.

I use a lot of storage devices and these take up more space because they don't use USB for the power - but they are faster because of this - great for game systems and movies so you don't get lag

I picked up this 8TB external drive, on a "Deal of the Day". USB 3.0 speeds are around 190MB/s, read and write. So far, so good. I may shuck this later after the warranty runs out.

Picked it up when it was on sale. Great price and it works as advertised. The backup program included free is pretty basic, but seems to be working well. I like it a lot!

This external hard drive is what I needed it to be - big. I'm compiling all of my files from all of my other external hard drives, and this one is big enough to hold them all.

WD External Drives are one of the best out on the market. We use these for local backups of servers and workstations. With 8TB of capacity for such a great price its an easy choice for storage.

These drives on a sale price just can't be beat! These are not the troublesome 'green' drives. I purchased what I could afford, and hopefully I get a second chance with another sale later this year.

I bought this to shuck and use the hard drive in a NAS setup, but needed the extra storage right away. Connected easily to the USB 3 port on my computer and has worked flawlessly so far.

You can't go wrong getting this EHD, ESPECIALLY if it's on sale. Ever since losing valuable information on a Seagate external hard drive I've stuck with Western Digital and haven't been disappointed.

I wanted a hard drive to attach to my router so I could handle my own cloud storage. This has worked perfectly in that role.
