I purchased this for use with my router for a NAT setup. Works well. Decent data transfer speeds. Doesn’t get too hot. Quiet enough for my use. Very satisfied with this purchase!

Bought this to backup our laptop. Easy to install and somewhat easy to set up. WD's program didn't want to work so I went thru windows to set up. Works good that way.

This is a WD hard drive, what more do I need to say. They are the only ones that I trust outside of SanDisk. I was able to pick this one up at half the price and so I jumped at the opportunity.

Works seamlessly. I plugged it on to my computer and worked like a charm. I didn’t use the software it came with because that takes up space. Just drag and dropped large files over.

I buy these for my NAS at home. I shuck them (remove from casing and put in my PCs) and I've had good luck with them so far. I own 7 of them so far.

Great product when on sale. I got this bad boy for only $129. Don't overpay because they do go on sale from time to time. Black Friday is the best time to buy.

This is my third purchase of a WD 8TB external drive of this model. I use two on a laptop I have working as a music server as part of my audio system, one as the drive holding WAV files of about 4000 albums and the second as a backup for that drive. As you might guess, it is pretty important that both those drives work well. They have worked so well and seem so robust that when I purchased a new desktop for my home office, I bought a third of these drives as my backup target for the desktop. Haven’t been sorry about any of these purchases, but understand that this model may no longer be in production. If so, trust the new model will be as good as this one.

I've purchased many of these (15+) over the past year. I have never had a DOA and they are all working flawlessly. WD has always been my go to brand and has never disappointed.

Nice hard drive. Based on my research, it runs at 5700rpm, which is the slowest I’ve read about for a usb3 external hd. Solid state is the fastest, followed by 7200rpm. That said, I got 8TB for about $160, and that’s almost unbeatable online or anywhere. As a photographer, this is a gem. I now have 2 of these

Good for storing/backing up files. Super easy to use. There is an auto-backup scheduler which makes things more achievable. Definitely recommend for beginners.

These ain't your grandpa's 20mb hard drives. I mean,, a 3.5" bare 8tb drive is more expensive. You can't go wrong.

Still the best deal when Best Buy has these on sale to shuck the case and use the drives in your home NAS. When these go on sale I pickup one and add it to my Drobo with little problem.

Customer support, which you WILL NEED, from WD is simply awful. It's a labyrinth of requests for documentation. Case files are assigned to new people/bots with every exchange. On the item side: the drive randomly fails. Specifically: without warning it will "decide" that it is read-only. You will loose work. You will have corrupted files. Re-mounting, unplugging, rebooting - if you like all of that, then by all means, this noisy turtle of an external drive is for you. If you want stability and reliability: go elsewhere.

Great product. Needed a great USB hard drive to store all our family files/ pictures, etc. It's well worth it for the cost I paid for it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone .
