I bought this on sale and at half of the MSRP (slightly more than price of a 4TB NAS drive). Considering it has a WD Red NAS drive inside, it is a bargain.

I wouldn't consider myself a power user but I just needed a large capacity hard drive to store movies and this fit the bill. With media going 4k, files are larger than ever so to get 8tb for $160 is an incredible bargain. I've spent a considerable amount of time modifying my home theater setup so every component is as quiet as possible. Who wants to hear equipment whirling while watching movies? This hard drive is dead silent and barely gets hot even after prolonged use. I am considering buying another...one thing you can't have enough of is hard drive space.

Worked fine at first, then popped-up a corrupted directory message - Had to reformat and reinstall the WD Backup program, and start all over (hours of archiving files were wasted) - It is working now, but I'm not trusting the system. So, am having to duplicate the backups and archive on a 2nd system, for insurance.

I was looking for the external storage for a better price, this one i got a very good deal with lots of storage space.

I bought this to use for extended storage on my PS4 Pro, it works great and I have tons of space. I have over 130 games and still have over 6TB remaining!

Got it on sale and got a great deal. Tons of storage space attached to my router. Only thing that's not a "5" is that since it's so large it takes a few seconds longer to spool up than a smaller drive. Not a real "problem" at all though.

I have only had this for a few weeks but I am satisfied with its performance. I have not noticed any lost data yet.

It's a big hard drive, decently fast over USB 3.0, didn't install the software that came with it, just let Windows control it. No complaints so far.

Purchased this drive at a great Best Buy price to use in my synology server. Works great and it is a lot cheaper than purchasing the internal Red Drives.

I don't ever think I will fill it ! It stores all my photos from all the years. It like my own photo gallery. I have stored all of my old game on it.

Needed something for larger backup storage. The WD did the trick. Easy purchase online through Best Buy and picked up at local store.

Using it on my Xbox one x along with another wd 1.5 tb hd. Together I have over 10 tb of storage on my Xbox one x. Works amazing

It awesome to be able to travel with so much available storage. It's a little slow but I'm used to ssd. It is definitely fast enough to get the job done!

The setup was a little finicky, but once it was done it worked perfectly fine.

WD EasyStore 8 TB USB 3.0 External Harddrive in Black has become a solid part of my workflow when backing up video editing projects. Solid & Dependable.

Plenty of room to back up large files, videos and photos. I like that the drive goes to sleep mode when not in use which will help it last longer.

This drive has been great. There are a few different apps you can download for it too, but there weren't any instructions on where to find them.

Not much to review here .. just storage to transfer picture files from my phone. Other files too, but since we dont print our photos unless we buy new frames.... this is what we use to save them. It's pretty much my new photo album.

I purchased this for my wife so she could move all of her pictures from her desktop and save some space and it has worked perfectly.
