I purchased 3 of these. One for myself and 2 for Christmas gifts. I have used mine and have found it easy to use. I have always depended WD products to cover my needs, so hopefully this will not disappoint as time goes on.

I just bought this to shuck it. Before buying an internal drive, get on youtube and learn how to manipulate these to make an internal drive You'll save 50 dollars or more and get the same, sometimes even better quality drive.

massive storage space, easy to shuck and use as an internal drive. i just wish it was faster than 5400rpm

This hard drive has excellent speed via usb 3.0 interface. I use it as an archive drive. It scares me a little storing so much information on one drive so Ill soon be buying another to duplicate all of my files in the event of failure. So far, so great!!!!

This is very good value for money. I’m knocking one star off though because of noise on one of the units that I bought. I purchased 2 of these and have a Raspberry Pi doing an hourly rsync so that I have mirrored copies of my data. One of these drives is definitely louder than the other which brings questions of consistency in product. Other than that these are faultless so far.

This is a good backup hard drive. It does run a little warm but that never created an issue.

An excellent value for this much money - I purchased 8 of them, shucked the covers off of them to get the bare drives out and all 8 drives are now in a RAID-6 in my Dell PowerEdge R515 server. All are Western Digital white label EMAZ drives.

I bought this drive on sale (I believe it was a "Deal of the Day"), and have been very pleased with it. The only thing you have to watch for is when you don't access it for a few minutes, it seems to "shut off" and takes a few seconds to spin back up.

I assigned 5 stars for the internal drive, an 8TB 5400 RPM WD Red as of Q2-Q3 2017. The enclosure has no active ventilation and power supply is very basic. That is adequate for the 5400 RPM drive, however. Opening the case destroys the tabs for the most part, so tinkerers be aware.

Drive works well with my Windows 10 laptop. It will provide space for years to come.

I've purchased a few external HDs in the past, and most don't come with the necessary cables to hook up with a laptop or gaming system. I'm happy to report all the necessary cables come with this external hard drive, and I was able to quite easily link it to my Xbox

Western Digital is the brand you can trust for storage. It's not a blazing fast but adequate for my backup needs. The built-in backup and restore program is very easy to use and navigate.

Great price for a solid external that has all the space I need for my gazillions of photos.

I bought this for external storage for my PS4. The PS4 immediately recognized and formatted the drive. I have no issues with playing any of the games stored on the drive. It is just as fast as playing games directly on the PS4.

I always use Western Digital for all my Data Storage... This one delivers just like the others.. I bought it on sale for 140 plus tax on sale. I regret not buying another one because it went back up to 200 plus tax.. I would buy another and highly recommend this external HD!!!

Really like the ability to store all of my pictures on one drive and be able to backup my computer.

I do have a tons of storage of movie and game. I bought many as this is cheap if you just want to use it as storage, it work fine for transfer, not any faster like an SSD but for the price, it is worth it. The transfer rate is like 100MB/s so not bad.

Needed to consolidate a number of old drives. For the price and WD reliability cant be beat.

8TB, made sure to even get the red drive version. Not much more I can say except that the temps CAN get a bit high. And I'm talking 50c territory. I wouldn't recommend keeping it on for more than a couple hours at a time. Hope that helps those on the fence. Got it for 160.
