I use this for storing Photos Movies and Home Video. I recommend this only as storage. It slow to wake up when you 1st access it. But once its going the write time is good. I plan on purchasing another one. I would not use this to run any virtual machine or OS installed directly. It will be extremely slow.

I bought this unit because I had about three smaller one terabyte hard drives that were getting filled up I bought this to consolidate so far very happy the transfer rate is great and have not had any issues with it this far

I needed a portable drive that was larger than my 1TB. And Western Digital is the only brand I will purchase. This drive serves my purpose perfectly and and a very reasonable cost.

I use this external hard drive with a Mac for Time Machine backups. It works great. I haven't had any problems. I needed to format the drive on the Mac prior to use, but that was easy using the Mac's "Disk Utility" app.

I bought this to backup my aging NAS drive and decided to connect it directly to my Plex media server and let play content directly. It is fast enough to manage this task very well .

Great amount of space. Doesn't support encryption. A little slow.

This is my 2nd drive of this same model from BB. This might be the luck of the draw, but the internal is a "Red" in mine per detected WD model number. This means the drive is of higher specs when it comes to long term storage.

It's a WD.... What's not to love. I've had this drive running for a while now 24/7. I've dumped a lot of data on it. It's holding up great. I ran a lot of drive tests on it prior to use and all is well!

We have had no issues with this drive yet. We purchased it because our other drive was filling up and we use a lot of hard drive space. This seems like it will work great until we can get a RAID system set up in its place.

Purchased the WD easystore 8TB external storage device to use as a backup for my NAS. It is working fine and the speed is more than adequate for my needs. I purchased this as a daily deal and it was an absolute steal.

I was able to backup data from 3 other drives to this 1 drive.

Got this for storing computer backups, photos and videos. Not the fastest but does the job. I only plug it in when in use so it will last forever. Get it on sale Black Friday...will be hugely discounted.

I don't have any complaints about this hard drive. I use it for my media server to store movies and it hasn't had any problems in almost a year. Plug and play, works fast and like a charm.

Overall: satisfied. Just wish did not have to reformat for Mac.

Have been using this for more than half a year to store pictures and other files like documents and recordings. Build quality is great and you can set it up so you can access your files wirelessly through your tablets, phones or laptop. Works on almost all OS and read and write time are decent(atleast for me).
