Bought this to replace a 3tb WD that I have had for several years with no failure. Good product I would always recommend. Only complaint I have is that it's actually only 7,27 tb due to platforming . My understanding is that this can be rectified but I don't want to mess around in an area I don't know that much about. and BTW, that's not a WD thing ALL HARD DRIVES that I have bought come the same way.

Great product with a great price. I bought it to back up my Lightroom files and it has plenty of room to House my 10k plus photos.

Can't have too much storage. These WD drives are solid performers.

as far as external USB 3.0 hard drives go, this is about what you would expect as far as features go. what makes these drives special is what's actually on the inside. as of the time of this review, the 8TB version actually has a Western Digital Red NAS helium drive! these are usually much more expensive if you were to just buy the bare drive. although the higher quality build of the WD Red NAS drives is over kill for a USB 3.0 external hard drive, it's good to know that the insides are of higher build quality than your average external hard drive and with helium filled means it should run cooler too. although, on the topic of temperature, the enclosure provides zero active cooling, so if you left this drive on for several days, it does get very hot. that said, NAS drives should be able to withstand the heat as they are meant to be run in storage arrays full of hot hard drives. but, if you're conservative, I would not leave this thing powered on for several days at a time, at least not in it's USB 3.0 enclosure. but it's not a problem if you just want to hook it up for a few hours to run a backup or something like that. wait for the sales, and this becomes a WD Red/NAS gem in a el cheapo USB HDD disguise.

Great device. Comes with everything you need. Plenty of storage. Has a western digital red drive inside. works perfectly for NAS.

Awesome storage capacity. Great price. Got it for $139 while retail is $299. Fast drive that utilizes USB3.0. Can’t ask for more.

For the price the size is normal but the space is huge. and being WD it should last for a while to take care of anything I need.

I also have the Seagate 8tb external Backup Hub Plus, but its SMR technology is better for archiving and not for everyday use like the WD. I wish I had bought the 8TB WD the first time around as well. Anyways, now all our family photos and videos are "safely" archived/duplicated on two separate externals kept at two different locations. Regardless of what you choose, i recommend putting an active fan underneath the units to ensure air flow and reduce operating temperatures inside the cases.

I had a 4tb My book plugged in to a Raspberry Pi 3 running Kodi to hold all my Movies and TV shows but I needed more storage. All I use is Western Digital products for my external storage needs. And im happy with my Easystore External hard drive purchase. Read/write are super fast. And now I can hold all my media. I was shopping online for an 8tb. I found this on my Best Buy app. I checked inventory and drive to my nearest Best Buy and bought this. Great price and quality for so much storage.

WD brand is an excellent brand.. low noise, excellent storage capacity.
