Be careful, but Good For Most People

Plenty of storage for the 4k videos I shoot. Up until about 2 months ago this was my go to storage option. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is I accidentally plugged the wrong power cable in one day (my monitors power cable) and it fried the hard drive. Not the case or power board, but the hard drive. Seems like the case should be setup to get fried first not the hard drive storing all my precious data.

Quick for a spinning drive.

The WD software is somewhat obtrusive in Windows 10. Doesn't want to let you remove usb drive for way longer than task manager shows the drive is moving data. Not cacheing. I mean 15 minutes later after a write. Says drive is busy, but no data is being transferred. That said, however, the drive works pretty quickly and is to some degree taking advantage of the USB 3 interface. It (subjectively- I did not measure it) seems to read and write faster in USB 3 port than a USB 2 when the source is faster than it. SATA SSD or USB 3.1 external SSD transfer.
