Bought 3, 1 was dead on arrival. Had to get a replacement.

Bought this for a backup device. It does seem to work as intended.

I am using this for NAS back up. It is very stable.

Hard to use on mac pro, requires some more additional set

The hard drive works, but it is slow to rev up. Everytime I need to write or read something to this drive, I have to sit there for a while and wait for this thing to rev up; this happens often. I breaks my work flow, and it is very disappointing.

I had a few problems with these drives have had it replaced 3 times, Customer service replaced with no problem now my new on sounds loud like the disk is thrashing. would buy a different brand next time.

Good Product but it lacks proper UI. It is so hard even for people with good IT Skills to connect and manage this drive. I wonder why cant these people make the interface very simple. Mobile app is horrible.

Not sure if it's this device or my wireless router but the connection seems to drop all the time. Rebooting the router reestablishes the connection but then it will just drops. Happens fairly often.

It Works! Got Ok speeds for storage. Waiting for TB per dollar to drop. If u need storage WD is better then Seaget. They def die fast and so do your files.

I returned this product for a full refund. Although it advertises as Mac compatible, you would never know it by the unintelligible gymnastics required to set-up. First of all, it was totally dead when I plugged it in for the first time....NOTHING! How can you follow instructions when the unit would not even power up. READ ALL THE REVIEWS!! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I bought three of these for music and movies on my iMac. All three after seven months have failed whenever I try to copy to them, any file, any size. Error code 100006. Contacted WD and they stated that I'm not supposed to copy large files on a Mac unless its exFat formatted. Huh! Bought Seagates and didnt have issues. Now I sit trying to transfer all my stuff off of three 8 tb drives 100GBs at a time watching each transfer fail and wondering what files have been corrupted. Sticking with Seagates from now on.

This hard drive is sitting on the floor. I have tried several times, but unsuccessfully to get it to work. I moved and totally forgot to send it back to the store and now it is too late to do so. I tried transferring documents from my old hard drive to this one, and it simply would not. I formatted the new hard drive to see if that would work - it did not. I gave up! I will have to order another hard drive - unfortunately, not this one!

After some time I wanted to try WD again to see if there were any improvements. Was horrible and still is. This drive is connected to my Airport Router and it goes to sleep within 1 min of idle time. Such ridiculous feature. I connected directly to my mac and changed the sleep time and still didnt make any difference. The speed. Dont even get me started. Even connected directly via USB-C, the drive lags. I would not recommend this drive to my worst enemy.

I bought a brand new not refurbished. They sent me a hard drive that could not be reformatted by me. Took them 5 agents and two hours to tell me this information. Then they wanted me to drive 45 minutes to the store for their mistake and make an appointment to get it reformatted by Geek Squad and possibly pay. Ridiculous!! Even agent said I bought a brand new not a refurbished Hard drive.

The Mac I paired this with constantly drops the connection and has to reboot for no reason, terrible! If I would have known would not have purchased!

The one I got was really loud, lots of clicking and sounded like it was about to fall apart. Didn't trust it so returned.

This product could not be formatted for Mac operating system. Had to return it. I'm sure it will do fine with Windows. It's also a bit noisy.

The hard drive died after less than 2.5 years (click of death.) It was stationary the entire time.

If you have a Mac, I would stay away!!! First off, I had use disk utility “repair” to even mount this drive. Ever other day (when I wake my Mac), I get a message that the back up had failed. I constantly have to unplug it and plug it back in to work right. I wish that I would of return it, when I had a chance. I have owned many back up drives, I never had problems like this one before.
