Pro: very easy to use and decent speed. It gets around 75MB/s writing speed. Con: the noise is very noticeable. I put it on the floor because of it.

Verified that it was a red drive inside. Only had it for a few months so can't attest to the durability but I am expecting it to be pretty durable with it being a red drive inside. Happy so far with it.

Excellent drive for a NAS and standalone external.

I’ve bought many HD over the years, and they all have a risk of failing, but WD has always outlasted the rest with the best odds of years of service, This is another great quality drive!

I own several other Western Digital drives and will only buy Western Digital from now on. They are very dependable. This one is replacing an old 300gb WD drive that I've been using for about 12 years.

This drive stayed quiet for over 280 days with regular usage. It's been a week, this has started to generate grinding noise and is becoming so annoying to hear that all the time. It's not even a year and from what I'm reading online, the moment you hear grinding noise in the hard drive, it's a sure way sign that it will fail or suddenly stop working. What a let down! I'm setting up raid now that my data is growing and to avoid these nuisances and risk losing my data. I shucked this drive and out of warranty too, so nothing left for me than wait for this drive to die on me now.

When the drive spins up it has a loud whine which after a week has not demished

After losing some important data and photos, backing my files up has become a top concern. This is a great external hard drive.

Not a computer whiz so the fact this was configured for Windows eluded me until I went online. When I got the proper software to configure for Mac it was easy. Had the same problem only once before so had forgotten that fiasco

Bought 2 of these. Removed it from the enclosure. Luckily both of them are Red drive which is highly recommended for NAS. Using it in my windows homeserver and it is working great.

Good drives. Have had some running for well over a year. Drives tend to run hot, but a simple computer fan on top is more than it enough to bring them back to acceptable temperatures.

This drive is made by a trusted name in data storage. Western Digital has been doing it for a long time and they keep up well with the times. This is an awesome portable hard drive with quality.

The Google Home Mini is amazing. It beats the Echo Dot by identifying the person it is talking to, being able to answer more questions, and support for more smart home and Chromecast.

I bought this hard drive to backup two laptops and two desk tops. So far it has performed flawlessly and has decent transfer speeds. Getting it at a very low price also helped!!

There was a loose part inside, so had to open it up. It was the WD white drives instead of red. Works, but isn't as quiet and it vibrates more than my natural WD red drives. Not that great if you have to constantly use it and leaving it on, but good for backing up and storing away.

I like this hard drive the only thing I don’t like is that it isn’t cloud, that was my mistake though while I was purchasing. I use it as my master backup and it was a great purchase

Bought multiple drives, opened the case, and installed them in my server at home. Way cheaper than buying the internal drive.

It is a great drive, performance is almost a 5 star. The only thing that knocked off a whole star for me was the noise. I understand a drive of this size will be louder but this would sometimes make my whole desk shake very lightly. I am running two other machines on my desk that do not have this effect.
