Hard Drive is difficult to use
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive is sitting on the floor. I have tried several times, but unsuccessfully to get it to work. I moved and totally forgot to send it back to the store and now it is too late to do so. I tried transferring documents from my old hard drive to this one, and it simply would not. I formatted the new hard drive to see if that would work - it did not. I gave up! I will have to order another hard drive - unfortunately, not this one!

Horrible drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After some time I wanted to try WD again to see if there were any improvements. Was horrible and still is. This drive is connected to my Airport Router and it goes to sleep within 1 min of idle time. Such ridiculous feature. I connected directly to my mac and changed the sleep time and still didnt make any difference. The speed. Dont even get me started. Even connected directly via USB-C, the drive lags. I would not recommend this drive to my worst enemy.

Horrible.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a brand new not refurbished. They sent me a hard drive that could not be reformatted by me. Took them 5 agents and two hours to tell me this information. Then they wanted me to drive 45 minutes to the store for their mistake and make an appointment to get it reformatted by Geek Squad and possibly pay. Ridiculous!! Even agent said I bought a brand new not a refurbished Hard drive.

Not Good for Mac
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product could not be formatted for Mac operating system. Had to return it. I'm sure it will do fine with Windows. It's also a bit noisy.

Mac issues!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a Mac, I would stay away!!! First off, I had use disk utility “repair” to even mount this drive. Ever other day (when I wake my Mac), I get a message that the back up had failed. I constantly have to unplug it and plug it back in to work right. I wish that I would of return it, when I had a chance. I have owned many back up drives, I never had problems like this one before.

Don't get it for a Mac and Time Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these drives for two different macs. The drive comes with it's own software to configure. Well, Time Machine on a mac hates this drive because it keeps going to sleep. I used the included software to turn that feature off... THREE TIMES - it still seems to turn on this energy saving feature on its own and start failing again. I avoid Seagate like crazy but I might have to start avoiding WD too.

Something isn’t right
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item arrived with loose parts or plastic “rattling” inside the device. Clearly, it was damaged or poorly assembled. We never even plugged it in. We have no idea of the quality, ease-of-use, or value of the item. We were never able to find any of those things out.

Impossible to format for Apple OSX
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this if you have an Apple computer. Finding formatting instructions is horribly cumbersome and takes way too long. If you upgrade your OSX, you need to reformat the drive- which deletes everything - So if you have an Apple Computer, dont bother with this unit

Drive inside is WD80EDAZ (ordered Feb 2021)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in February 2021. I shucked the drive to use in an NAS (synology 220+). Did not have to do any pin or power mods, it plugged right in and was recognized. The drive model number inside was WD80EDAZ, made in Thailand in July 2020. Just posting this to let people know who want to use for shucking what drive is currently inside.

Received non functional
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plugged the drive in the USB port, nothing happened, no application installed. Had to go though WD website to find apps. But then I run "Drive Status Check" in the WD Drive Utilities, I get "SMART Status Failed". Also does not show up in Windows Explorer. Product is dead on arrival

Garbage from BestBuy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Item is overpriced and not so easy to use. BestBuy shiped me an item that someone returned to them before. All scratched and smashed. Bestbuy resells returns as new to customers. Beware !!! Overall I would go with a different brand anyway, WD are not the best to use anyway, slow transfer with micro-usb cable

It died literally the first day
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive to back up all of my photos. I started to transfer them all over when i heard a noise from the drive and it shut everything off! I had to reboot my computer and everything came back up besides the drive. It would not even see it anymore. I am lucky it didnt harm my Mac.
