Huge storage but stopped working just a few weeks after purchase without notice. Can't access files.

Used it once as a back-up that took 3 hours (Which is slow for a back-up from an SSD) and then failed to initialize (Ironically 18 days after purchase... just out of best buy warrently.... go figure)

Couldn’t get it to store over 1 tb on a 8 tb hard drive without getting an error message that files were corrupted but I think that the hard drive is junk will never get this product again

I wish I would have given negative star.. I lost all my kids first year picture. This product screwed my first born kids memory..

Sent photos to be scanned by a company and the scans were placed I. The cloud but I haven't been able to get them moved to this external drive.

Does not work with time machine backup. Waste of money and tech support not helpful. Will not provide a refund. Stay away from this if you have a Mac

I love mine, best i have ever brought. My WD 8TB external backup, I use as a 3rd backup for 8 my devices cell phones laptops desktops everything. I use the cloud too but I am paranoid that I'm going to lose all my pictures and grandkids my documents online perfect important papers so I'll scan everything and I use the cloud & 2 external drives for backups plus i have everything on my laptop. I know for most this is over kill. It really isn't. The WD is the best and so easy to use It's worth every penny.

Slower than other external hard drives I have and it didn't even last 2 full years.

This drive is incredibly loud, though WD says nothing is wrong with it. Regret buying this drive, DO NOT BUY!

My kids knocked it over once and bam stopped working,not to mention it needs to be powered to an outlet...terrible

recently failed, Geeks could not revive it, shows up that it's on the computer but can not open.

HAD A WD RED DRIVE INSIDE. WAS FINE FOR 3 YEARS AND DIED 1 MONTH OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY.

This went bad with in a week of purchasing and using it and was unable to retieve data off of it

Good quality hard drive, I was able to back up all my files for work and dropbox. This is the 3rd WD hard drive I have purchased over the last 10 years and thus far when I take them down from the shelf and use them they have done their job.

Fell off my desktop once and now it wont boot and I lost all of my data

I have 2 of these so far and will purchase 2 more in the near future (for harvesting drives). right now these are to back up data stored on my NAS. They are running quiet and cool. if you purchase one of these the first thing you should do is run the included WD diagnostics utility to verify that the drive is in good working order. If it fails the software check or is super noisy take it back and get another one, they should run pretty quietly normally. I have had no problems with either unit so far. this is a good and inexpensive way to save precious photos, videos or other important data.

Just what I needed and in a matter of days! Works great, as it should and at a fair price. Everyone should be aware that if you have one of these and you purchase a Mac computer, you’ll need to format it. It’s a total riot act/scheme if you ask me. I know have 3 of these external drives.
