Works, but difficult to set up

The hard drive seems to work now, but I had to restart my computer multiple times, call support twice, look up forums online, and do several other things to get it going. I didn't expect an hour of troubleshooting to use a "Easystore Plug & Play" external drive. Note: When you call customer service, the menu will tell you they do not provide phone support. Just wait for 20-30 seconds and then it will offer to connect to support. Kind of annoying...hopefully not on purpose.

    Hitachi! Too much vibration.

Sisoft Sandra reports: Model : WD easystore 25FB Manufacturer : Hitachi Model : WDC WD80EFZX-68UW8N0 search of the model number shows this to be a WD RED drive. Immediately I noticed this doesn't sound like a WD drive during the quick test in WD Drive utilities. Compared to my collection of WD Mybook 5TB drives, this drive has at least 3 times as much vibration, and resonates on my bookshelf and desk. I will probably return it. I generally love WD drives, but this doesn't seem to be a WD drive!

Brought this home and came out of the box bricked. I can’t believe this product is highly rated. I was unlucky or they delete negative reviews but buyer beware. I’ll be returning this to the store and getting another brand, never to buy this one again.

Don't waste your money-I can't tell you how to keep your data safe when this one also died and I can't seem to retrieve it...when your backup dies-it's not good. Beware of this one.

Not Impressed - dead within 1 day

First off, drive not write-able from my Macs (NTFS Formatted). Had to reformat off the bat to get both Wintel and Mac read write ability. Got my data copied to the new drive (24 Hours). Ejected from the desktop and plugged in to the Router for network access. NOTHING, Drive not Identified or readable. Router giving me error that Drive damaged and needed repair. Plugged back in to desktop and still NOTHING. MAC Disk Utility could not find the drive after repeated attempts of plugging/unpluggin and rebooting (Per trouble shooting directions). WD Utility could see the drive but it would disappear, reappear, disappear and then Utility would crash. Can only assumed Drive damaged somehow. Back to Best Buy!

    failed in 3 days

Worked fine when I installed initially. Backed up all my data ok. 3 days later getting drive error. Drive making noise. Then computer would not recognize drive. Total drive failure. Can't access at all. Ran Western Digital diagnostics. Failed. Tried everything. Now all my data is on that drive. Returned to Best Buy for refund who was very good at issuing refund. Not happy all my data still there. Hope they destroy the drive.

    Not informative

Bought this on its good reviews. But after connecting it it won't let me create folders. Not even sure if it will back up files. The support link given is of no help. Have bought WD in the past and have been happy with it. But things seem to have changed. Clarification on Specs would be helpful! Is this storage or just backup? Neither is working for me.

    Understand Original Purchase Limitations

I wanted an external hard drive to backup and restore (if necessary) my PC hard drive. I was told this WD Drive would do that. I found out after purchasing it that it only backs up certain files like Documents or Photos. If I want to copy my entire hard drive (operating system, all installed Applications...everything) and restore it if need be, I have to purchase software from another company. I have to pay $29.99 to a company named Acronos before The WD-easysrore drive will do what I was told it would do when I bought it.

Bought two of these on sale. One has stopped working already less than 3 months from purchase and dealing with Western Digital support has been a nightmare. They are telling me it may not be covered by warranty.

    die after two years

It died just after the warranty expired. Suddenly the drive became unbearably slow. Opening a folder in explorer took forever that I had to unplug the WD drive.
