This was a great product to purchase. I've only owned it for a little over a month so far, but I intend to use it as a backup for my main back up drive that has everything on it when I upgrade my OS and have to switch from HFS+ to the new APFS. I've also edited some videos on Premiere with it so far and it's working perfectly well. Only thing so far is that sometimes it gets hung up if you put your computer to sleep with the drive mounted in Mac OS X 10.11.6 right now. I recommended this drive to everyone when I saw it on sale.

I use Kodi for my home video and music library and have bought 2 of these. Previously, I've owned many WD external drives. They are solid! Dependable and affordable.

Everything we expected out of the unit. Yes its larger than the poket units, but the storage capacity is the limiting factor.

good product easy to set up. You are able to directly drop files manually with bo problem. i personal did not use the app for this. i primarily used it for games and my game recodings

YUGE storage space in small physical size. Performance makes me think a WD Red is inside, confirming what "the internet" says. Would buy again

One of the challenges anyone needing digital storing space is having the peace of mind that your photos and video files will be in a trusted location. The other challenge is having significant storage space, especially if you're using higher-end video recorders and DSLR cameras. Western Digital is an extremely reliable brand. My colleagues who do professional videography are limiting their digital storage media to very few brands with Western Digital at the top of the list. Having 8 TB at a great price from Western Digital is an ideal combination.

So far so good. I use this desktop storage for my media (Photo, movies etc.) This particular unit named "Easystore" is the same as Element which is more widely available.

Great hard drive and it is even better when you buy as deal of the day.Software that came with it it is not the best but if second copy backup software is used make this drive better and easier to to back up documents with lot of options

High density, great price and form factor. WD is also a reliable company as well and the best part is the internal drive is a high quality drive.

I am a avid pic taker so I have thousands of pics have a smaller version of this and it was full time for a new one...

My daughter's computer crashed recently and she thought she'd lost all of her pictures since the birth of her now 8 year old daughters. Not wanting to go through that same stress. It's a comfort knowing I have all of my files backed up.

I've purchased four of these and two of them were defective (while they did turn on, no computer would recognize them). For the two that did work, they've worked great -- fast transfers, and they seem fairly reliable so far. So, provided you get one that works, you'll probably be happy with it. I was lucky that I was able to return the two defective ones for a full refund to Best Buy before the return period was over...Western Digital customer service had told me that they'd only replace them with refurbished models with reduced warranties if Best Buy wouldn't take them back.

It's a great value for the price and WD drives have always proven to be quite reliable. I still have 20+ year old WD drives that are still functional.

Now I can download all my classic flix and not worry about running out of room. I really needed the storage space.

Got this on a Best Buy sale. Opened it up to use for a NAS, works great, and is much quieter than our older drives. Hoping Best Buy does another price drop because I'd like to get another.

Holds less and costs more but otherwise I’m satisfied

This is a wonderful product for storing large amounts of photos for photographers. Easy to use, comfortable on the price...on sale.
