WD Easystore drives are fast and high capacity for a relatively low price. This one was no exception, allowing me to add to my home server without much of any trouble. Diagnostics identify mine as likely housing one of the "white label" WD Red-comparable drives, and it's acted just like any other so far. Would very much recommend this, especially when it goes on sale. Hard to get this kind of storage value anywhere else. Originally heard about this series on Reddit and I've not been disappointed.

Best Priced Quality 8TB External Hard Drive

This easystore 8TB hard drive is the third 8TB WD unit I bought and replaces two smaller external drives. As usual, it is easy to set up and works flawlessly. I don't install any of Western Digital's software, no scheduled backup for me, I just use the drive to store files on an as-needed basis. In the past, I have had external hard drives crash, so I believe in redundancy. This extra-large hard drive is just what I need to handle my OCD problem of storing more and more data files. Sad, isn't it? Don't answer that.

Good storage for the price. I use it to back up specific files on the network at work. I wish the WD Backup software could see the network drives, but I can drag and drop the directories needed. Very quiet and so far no errors.

This WD 8 TB USB 3.0 external drive is perfect for all your external storage needs. High megapixel, 14-bit RAW, DSLR photographs take up a ton of space and this external unit is the answer. I can store primary copies on my internal hard drives and backup copies on the external drive. This unit goes on sale all the time and is a great all around unit. I own two. I bought the second because the first one checked all the boxes on what I needed for an external hard drive.

Purchased this so I could keep it connected to my main computer for regularly scheduled backups. I am a photographer and need a reliable system. Have never had issues with Western Digital products. This is my 3rd external hard drive I have purchased. Still using the others for additional backup redundancy. I do keep the door open where it is running in my cabinet desk and have hole drilled in the back wall of the cabinet for air circulation to keep it from overheating.

It stores much of my video archives in one place rather than having files scattered over three of four external hard drives. Good price for a quality 8TB hard drive.

Wait for these to go on sale. $129 is the max you should pay and you can do better if you wait. Very reliable drives and much cheaper option than equivalent bare drive.

I have been relying on WD almost exclusively for ALL my storage needs be it internal or external for the last decade+ and count ONE drive that has failed me in which they were able to both fix under warranty and recover my data! I ABSOLUTELY recommend them for reliable data storage and encourage you to check our their SSD internal and external lines as well. ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY! Trust me, I'm a tech god! Also, SUPER easy to use! Just plug and play!

Excellent value, and Best Buy did right

Inside this enclosure, at least the two I bought plus 10 more bought by various friends, are WD Red server-grade 8TB hard drives. There are numerous videos on YouTube showing how to "shuck" the plastic case and remove the hard drive, then usable in your NAS box or other servers. If you're just using the drive as an attached 8TB external, this is a particularly high quality hard drive to have in a $139 package. Now, for the props to Best Buy -- I bought two of these at $159.99 on Black Friday. They went on sale for $139.99 on December 7. I called up Best Buy and asked (politely) for a price adjustment. They approved the adjustments, including crediting back the portion of sales tax for the $20 per drive refunds. I would absolutely do business with Best Buy again.
