Just plug and play. Good amount of capacity to store lot of contents. Consistent write speed of 160MB/s. Highly satisfied and recommended for desktop backup solutions.

Inside this enclosure, at least the two I bought plus 10 more bought by various friends, are WD Red server-grade 8TB hard drives. There are numerous videos on YouTube showing how to "shuck" the plastic case and remove the hard drive, then usable in your NAS box or other servers. If you're just using the drive as an attached 8TB external, this is a particularly high quality hard drive to have in a $139 package. Now, for the props to Best Buy -- I bought two of these at $159.99 on Black Friday. They went on sale for $139.99 on December 7. I called up Best Buy and asked (politely) for a price adjustment. They approved the adjustments, including crediting back the portion of sales tax for the $20 per drive refunds. I would absolutely do business with Best Buy again.

What is there to say, 8TB of storage. What a world that can offer that much storage and the price has risen but then aren't all things going up. 35 years ago 8 MB was hard to imagine then they went to 20 MB, Thought it would never ever get this big. Waiting for the PB.

This is a great drive for backup and with 8tb of space, it can hold a lot of data. Easy to hook up and use. Great price also.

I have been relying on WD almost exclusively for ALL my storage needs be it internal or external for the last decade+ and count ONE drive that has failed me in which they were able to both fix under warranty and recover my data! I ABSOLUTELY recommend them for reliable data storage and encourage you to check our their SSD internal and external lines as well. ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY! Trust me, I'm a tech god! Also, SUPER easy to use! Just plug and play!

I have a few smaller 1 and 2 gig drives - this 8 Gig drive came available for a fantastic price at Best Buy and I am glad I purchased it. USB 3 is very fast and I doubt I will fill this drive up soon. Very satisfied.

I was looking for mass storage for a good price. Was about to build a NAS using bare drives. Saw the raving reviews and I bought these to use standalone and few for my NAS. All are working great, would highly recommend!

Great way to save all your pictures good price for product

This is a fantastic value for an 8tb when on sale. The internals of the drive is very stable and reasonably fast. The drive is quiet and cool. 8TB is plenty of space. Basically everything one wants in an external drive.

These drives when identified properly with the model number can score you a WD red 8 TB with 256 MB of cache. It's a very good deal if you know how to shuck them properly. It took me < 5 min and I had a WD red NAS drive.
