Definitely has a lot of storage and has a nice weight to it so I can't imagine it falling at all unless done on purpose. Skinny but not too tall either so it's easily stored. :)

Excellent drive. Very dependable. Easy to setup and load.

Formatted easily for Mac using OS X Disk Utility. No apparent issues with the drive after the first two months of use. iTunes is rather slow to launch, although that seems likely due to the size of the library rather than any issues with the drive itself. Mfr warranty is two years -- will followup if issues arise within warranty period.

Purchased this for piece of mind to store photos and media storage as well as other important information. It was very easy to set up and inexpensive for the amount of storage. It is quiet and doesn't get hot or overheat. It is small enough to not take up much space and has a nice shiny finish.

Price was right and chase 10x points made it even sweeter

I needed the storage space. Right now it is a backup of stuff from a number of smaller external disks. I will get a second one which is a duplicate/clone of this one so everything is replicated in at least two places. If you get a large disk consider what you will put on it carefully because with only one disk on it but if that one disk fails you are in a word toast If half your stuff is on one disk and half on another one and one failes you are only half toast. Plan to backup the stuff on that new large disk somewhere. You can put it on several other disks or a second one of equal size but do NOT put everything on one disk. If you are a Mac user you can assign two disks to Time Machine and it will alternate backups to both disks.

This product is great and works as intended. I have been using it as a media drive for a plex server and have not had any issues after a few months. I would say though that the normal $180 is a little high and wait till it goes on sale for between $120-$130.

Was fast transferring from older one. Great for the cost.

This drive is about half the price of the other WD 8tb drive with the online storage which wasn't a need for us so we grabbed a few of them to consolidate data from a bunch of lower capacity external drives. Paid about 150 each about a month ago. Transfer speed was great. They all had WD Red 8tb drives in them, which cost more as a bare drive than we paid for each of these externals. Only negative is they'er a tiny bit louder than our other drives. Not the constant running sound - but the occasional clicks that it makes during drive activity like copying files to it. They're pretty noticeable pops sometimes. Definitely not a dealbreaker for us but if this is going next to a computer in a bedroom it might be worth considering.

What's not to love? In most instances you get a WD RED drive (256mb cache if you get one from Thailand) for over $100 less than the internal version plus a decent external usb 3.0 case. Cooling/air flow could be better in the case but it does the job well enough. 2 Year warranty vs 3 for the internal but otherwise it's all positives.
