Got it on sale making it a solid deal. Mine has been running in the enclosure for almost a year now. I do use an 80mm USB fan to help pull warm air through the enclosure. A cool hard drive is a happy hard drive. Or something like that.

Just plug in and ready to go, This is my second- plenty of useable space for all of my music, docs, pictures, back-ups. Not bad looking sitting on the desk just have to keep the dust off- would reccomend to be an essential component of any system.

Good external storage. Large enough it should handle most peoples needs. USB 3.0 much faster than older drives I have had. Was able to back up files from 4 different computers, including a lot of large video files and still haven't used 50% of the capacity.

I've been a long time fan of Western Digital hard drives for their reliability, and this is another accessory winner for my devices. Great reliable storage and competitively priced. As long as you are careful with this product, it will last for years.

Let's face it, we're all collecting more and more data each day. Music. Photos. Documents. Etc... It adds up fast and your good day will turn bad really fast in the event of a hard drive failure. It's happened to me a few times in the last 20+ years. Why not back up all of those important documents, photos or songs? I don't use it myself, but this WD HDD comes with free backup software that knows when something is new or changed and backs up according to a pre-set schedule. This way it's not trying to backup everything every single time the backup software runs. It's incredibly easy to setup, so don't be worried if "back ups" are new to you. The WD Software is very basic and easy to use - for me it's too basic, but that's me. Oh, being USB 3.0 also means it's going to be a lot faster at transferring data than your old 1TB External HDD that you purchased in 2008. I'm a serious data horder with a computer rack of equipment in my house you wouldn't believe. My main system is RAID (a type of backup for lack of a better explanation in this review), but I still prefer to keep external backups as well. After this purchase, I now own 6 of these 8TB HDDs. Normally, the price is $20-$30 higher on Amazon. This was a GREAT deal from Best Buy. Oh, if you think you don't NEED 8TB of storage, think again. You might not need it 'today', but you will need it at some point and if you do a breakdown of the price per Gigabyte of this 8TB HDD and other 6TB & 4TB HDDs you'll see you're getting more bang for your buck. Finally, if you have multiple computers you can setup a network share (it's a lot easier than it sounds with Windows) and use this 8TB HDD to backup your home desktop PC and even the kids laptops without moving the HDD back and forth between computers. This isn't the fastest way to do things, but it is possible if you're on a budget.

I have been using WD external hard drives for many years and have had really good luck with them, I have never had a failure, and this drive is no exception, it works flawlessly and has more than enough storage for my needs!

Easy plug and play, external powered, USB harddrive. If you want on site external data storage this is pretty much everything you could ask for. Also good if you want to transfer data between computers without the need for cloud storage.

First drive showed errors in Crystal Disk Info, but Best Buy was happy to exchange! Second one is a winner and going strong for months now. Has a good Western Digital Red drive inside that I removed for a PC tower install. Couldn't be happier! Best Buy had the best price anywhere...living up to their name! Great product!

My 4TB external USB drive is getting full. I have almost 10years worth of collected family photographs. Time to get a new one and start the 2018 photo folder. Great drive. It is a RED WD internal drive which means high quality drive, not your cheap ones. So quality is there and longevity and reliability is excellent.

I puchased this for my PS5 the PS5 only supports up to 8TB of external hard-drive storage but I had to prepare myself because those game are gonna take up alot of space get it while its on sale 8TB is an insane amount of space ill never run out of space

Whatever deal was struck with WD, Best Buy is able to offer the least expensive external 8TB hard drive on the market whenever this goes on sale and this SKU is completely exclusive to Best Buy. Six months in and no reliability or noise issue to report. Expect transfers of around 80 MB/s on a USB 3.0 connection.

Great backup storage. The easy store is easy to use like the name implies and it was priced right when I bought it on sale here at Best buy. Have not had any problems with it and I would buy another one in a heartbeat

My main reason for purchasing this drive, was the reliability of WD drives. The fact it had an enterprise level drive inside was the deciding factor. You may or may not get one of those drives inside, but either way, you get massive, quiet storage. This is not a drive for speedy writing or access, it's for data archiving, and using for streaming ONE movie at a time. I am breathing alot easier, knowing that I have all 3 of my 5tb drives archived on this one 8tb. Yes, I know that 3 of those drives = 15tb, but they aren't full yet either. Anyway, back to the point, if you need a reliable drive with tons of space, don't hesitate to buy this. It's a solid purchase. Did I mention it's very quiet?

My computer and external hard drive has a capacity of 2tb. After 5 years the storage on both were full and the computer was running slow. The easystore has a capacity of 8tb and was easy to self install. Now I have capacity to spare which should take me 10 plus years to fill.Great price on black friday

I've purchased multiple Western Digital drives over the years. Always reliable and easy to set up. The only reason I keep buying new ones is that I store too much data!
