I had three external hard drives. The first two were either very difficult to use or would not work at all. This one however, is neither of those things. I simply followed the directions that came with the drive and, it was up and running. I used Microsoft file history to create the back up and it started working immediately. Great product.

I've used WD hard drives before and, even when they eventually fail (and they all will), they stand behind their guarantees. And the Geek Squad is a great back up to that as well.

Works as expected. Using in a NAS (just an old laptop running OMV). Maxes out a gigabit connection. Had to format to exFAT

This is an excellent external drive for home use. The drive inside the one I purchased in April 2017 is a WD80EFZX which is the WD Red line. These drives are 5,400 RPM so they aren't extremely quick but they are good for home use especially when connected through USB 3.0.

Great drive, especially when on sale. Used WD Drive Utilities to test the drives and had no problems. Good speed.

I only buy these when they go on sale and I shuck them for use in my NAS. The first couple I got a few months back were "white label" drives but performed similar to Reds. I bought six during this sale and they were all actual Reds, and as expected, they scream. Obviously this violates my warranty but at essentially half the price of a non-external Red, I can afford to buy a couple of spares.

I have purchased these hard drives before, and I haven't had any issues with them yet. It does what it says, large capacity, fast transfer speeds, portable, and if you need to you can use as an internal hard drive (Reference YouTube for instructions, at your own risk) so far, Best Buy has had the best deals on these drives. I will buy these drives again and I would reference these to my friends and work.

The western digital external hard drive is a great way to auto backup your Mac sand Pc computers. The backup software worked seamless with both operating systems.

I am using this on a Mac. Lots of storage for a great price. Easy to format and set up.

Works great as a NAS drive attached to my nighthawk router. IT's reasonably quiet, not bright, and the network storage means I can access whatever I put on it, pretty much anywhere in the house (or with some VPN foolery, anywhere in the world.)

Great desktop back up. You can never have enough backup.

For an 8 TB is fast...once it gets running. Don't expect instant gratification it won't happen.
