I work in data analysis, and this is a good backup drive to keep my data safe!

These are simply superb value on sale. I bought many of these again for the red NAS drive inside. Simply a steal at $140 a piece.

I needed enough space to keep my pictures. I needed to back them up, too. So, I bought two!

Does what it says on the tin. I use it to back up a backup machine, so I have a backup for my backups. The unit runs hotter than I'd like under load. It ran hot under load when I ran a 6TB backup, sure, but even under more standard loads of 100-200GB at a time, it's still pretty hot, so maybe don't go for this guyif you intend to routinely make transfers of in excess of 500GB. But if you're doing that, you should probably look into a dedicated NAS anyway.

The WD external drive is great for my grandson's gaming files.

Mine had a white label WD inside. Great for use in a NAS! Pretty easy to shuck, plenty of youtube videos out there. If you do, the extra pin issue can also be solved with a cheap molex-sata adapter, seems to cut it out without major issue with the small tape or surgery to the drive.

I have now purchased 5 of these NESN model number drives that stated they were a product of Thailand. Every one of them so far has had a 256MB Cache WD Red NAS drive inside of it. You cannot beat that for shucking the drive out of the case to put inside a NAS server. Money to be saved for sure in relation to buying WD Red bare drives.

It is easy to use and 8T is enough size for store movies.

It does a great job storing my files. It is quiet.

I wish the transfer speeds over USB was faster and used a normal USB C port instead of the funky micro b thing

I bought a few of these WD external drives to be used as backup drives. I've been very happy so far. I've been using WD "My Book" external drives for about ten (10) years and haven't had any issues. After about 3-4 years I replace them just to avoid keeping them too long and maybe eventually failing. Just a precautionary replacement.

I love this hard drive, the speed and storage size is wonderful. The fact that they have RED drives inside makes it even better.

These are great drives. For several years the 8TB WD HDDs have been my basic workhorse for storage. I've got a dozen of them (remember for every active drive, you have to have another drive to back it up). I definitely recommended them.
