I always get nervous putting so many eggs (TB) in one basket, in case the drive fails, but I haven't had any problems yet. I've had portable ones fail more often than these desktop models.

I wanted a hard drive to attach to my router so I could handle my own cloud storage. This has worked perfectly in that role.

Purchased for ~$160 this drive was priced well. Checking it via badbocks command under Linux takes a few days but I always do that before using any disk. No bad blocks found. Formatting and using as usual.

I have a Mac laptop and plugged this in and it was telling me I had to all sorts of things I didn't understand to make it work. I tried doing them and my computer told me it was a bad idea. I ended up having a friend come over and he had to (I think?) reformat this Drive to make it compatible. After that, it worked great. But I wanted plug-and-play and it was not.

Works perfect as my plex media server! The read and write speed is better than expected, and I'm very happy I opted to go with the 8tb instead of the 4.

Bought this to have a dedicated harddrive at house and was easy to connect to mac book. Offers plenty of file storage and looking at picking up a second one for a photo project working on.

This WD 8Tb drive is just what I needed to make sure my files, photos and music are backed up. I'm not particularly partial to "the cloud" so I feel more comfortable making my own backup.

I've been using this hard drive for over a month with no hiccups. I've had issues with Seagate but all my WD external HDDs are working well (some many years old). Speed and reliability are great so far.

I am a very happy and satisfied user of this 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive , I have no reservation in recommending it. The backup speed is superb and there is no fear of running out of storage ( 8TB).

As a photographer shooting RAW and JPEG images, I have many external hard drives. This may be the fastest of my drives yet. I have many Seagates which have treated me very well. I thought I'd try the 8TB Western Digital and I'm impressed. Like other reviews, I hear the drive making some minimal noise while accessing files, but not more than I expected. So far I'm very pleased with the drive speed. One critical comment - I hate that all these external drives have large plugs at the end of the power supplies - I wish they had bricks in the middle and small plugs at the wall. Enough of my minor quibble, I think this was a good purchase and believe you can proceed with confidence in your purchase.

Was needing another drive for my NAS and knowing that many of these contain WD reds which are specifically made for long term storage and constant use, it was the perfect option. I was not disappointed.

Great price for a good drive. Even though these now come with WD white label, they're still WD Red drives. The big difference is that the SATA power connector has been updated to the newest spec. If you're running a NAS and you shuck one of these and plop it in, you shouldn't have any issues. However, if you plan on putting a bare drive in your PC, be aware that most power supplies still use the old standard which outputs 5v power on the yellow line. This causes the drive to constantly restart itself as the new standard calls out this as a restart pin. The easiest fix is to remove the yellow line from your power connector used to plug the drive in and you'll be good to go.

I was looking for an external hard drive to back my computer up with that was easy to use. The sales person recommended the WD Easystore 8TB. It is one of the best purchases I made in a long time.
