I have not had any issues with it so far. I have a mac and I would say to format the hard drive right off the bat and not try to download WD's stuff. I worked so much better that way.

This thing is great I use it for my xbox and I've had it for about a year and this thing is great I've only used about 1/3 and still have a lot of room

External enclosure contains a WD Red 8TB NAS drive for a lower cost than the drive itself. If you can find it on sale it's even better. Awesome deal and a great drive. I've ordered 5 of these

These use untried disks with a notoriously high fail rate which is why they're so cheap but BestBuy will replace them within the return or Geek Squad period or then Western Digital will replace them within the 3 year warranty period. However, don't register these with Western Digital unless & until you need to replace them because the WD registration is nontransferrable. Dont yank the USB cable or power adapter from the hard drive. Unplug the power adapter from whatever external power souurce first. Also, don't drop or hit them nor store next to heat source or in the sunlight

These drives had fantastic reliability records. I connected them and checked did a WD scan before copying my data. The utilities WD provides are also handy. Very happy with the purchase.

Got this on Deal of the Day. External WD 8TB hard drive works flawlessly. I use it to backup all of my 4 TB WD Cloud data and still have tons of room to backup my home movie collection too.

This was a good deal as it has a great deal of storage. I expected it to be a little slow with a drive of this size so I use it for data and not live work. The only down side it is is a bit on the noisy side but once you learn to place it where it is behind other objects you don't even notice it.

Yeah I have tons of tunes and photos and needed plenty of space see whatta sayin’.. and when I addded them see whatta sayin it worked like a charm see whatta saying.

Purchased on sale to load all scanned files. Easy startup & backup lots of info. Haven’t gotten to the video files yet, so we’ll see how it goes. But, so far so good.

Was able to take the drive out of the external enclosure and use it inside my tower as a backup drive. Great amount of space for the price. These drives also have some really great reviews.

Picked up for use on Xbox one. Plugged it in, Xbox saw it, & started using. Simple setup & works perfectly. No complaints at all. Will buy another one for the Ps4.

Great value for size and easy to setup also if you want to use as internal voids warrenty but can be taken apart and installed in computer

This is my first review. I bought this external WD 8gb HD right before Xmas 2017 at a good price of close to $149, with $10 bonus store pickup. Lots of storage and good quality by WD.

I hooked this up to my router and now everyone on my home network can access the shows/pictures on it as well as backup important files. Perfect for now until I get a NAS configured.

I needed a external hard drive because I didn't wan everything bogging down my computer, so far i'm very pleased and I never had a issue with Western Digital.

Great ammount of storage space for the price. Blue LIght is not bothersome and can evern be turned off in settings. Works with Mac.

Brought this device almost 2 years ago & no problem with this external HD. I use this to back-up my other WD hard drives.

I have 10TB worth of space across 5 external HDD's, so I got this big boi to back them all up. Really slow, but it's for backups, not active use. This is your warning.

Great if you have a 500GB PS4 and are tired of erasing and downloading the 8TB external cleared all that up and no longer have to erase a single game.

Exactly what I needed. A great purchase for sure. I have backed up my entire computer, added all my photos and music and there is still plenty of room remaining. Dependable as well.
