great price for external high capacity hard drive and added convenience of mobility

No lagging, alot of space in a short case, and portable

Legit worth getting be honest why would you limit your access to what you can and can’t play and yes it work on ps4 and ps5 if it work on both these I’m sure it will for Xbox and it look like mini WiFi router

Good deal for the price - it works just fine. Fast enough to at least read and write 1080p 60fps ProRes 422 HQ, H.265 or BMRAW - BM Speed Test shows I'm getting about 200MB/s Read and Write speeds while going through a limiting USB Hub using a USB A to C converter.

it is a good item. brought a 4 tb in the past but I got a 8tb this time.

Purchased after my 5 year old WD external 2.0TB external drive gave up the ghost :( USB3.0 is nice and fast, avg transfer rates 130MB/s. Noise is not an issue, have it set to backup my personal files in Win10 file history daily and through backblaze. Runs a little warm at 44 deg C, hopefully I get more years out of this one.

Bought 6 to shuck for a RAID10 for $180 each. Bought a 7th one for $160 on Black Friday to add as hot spare. The drive inside retails for $250 at the moment.

Since this is USB 3.0 it is extremely fast when connected to a 3.0 USB port on my computer. There's so much storage that my intent is to use it as a backup of my 8 gigabyte raid array. I like this format of the case, versus the new format, because it matches my other cloud and My Book storage cases by Western Digital. I looked on YouTube on how to open up the case and verify that it has a Western Digital red disc inside. It is 5100 RPM however it came with 256 megabytes of cache which is twice what the cache that the older WD Red discs had. I couldn't not be more pleased with this purchase, however time will tell how it will survive through longevity of use. However my intent is not to keep it running all the time but rather only plug it into the computer when a backup is required.

Good price and drive is easy to set up, but it seems to be failing after just a few months. I know that can happen to any drive, but I'm still disappointed.

Not a good choice if you have a Synology NAS that you want to backup once a day. I bought it with the expectation that I would use the "Hibernation" function to spin up/down the WD drive, rather then let it needlessly run 24/7. With Snology's Hyper Backup program, the process is easy to set up. However, WD does NOT provide any tools or configuration tips to manage the easystore with a NAS running a Linux OS. Instead, I'm using a Cable Matters USB HDD/SSD drive adapter attached and configured on the NAS. A 6TB WD Red HDD is installed and works GREAT. The drive spins down after 20 minutes of no activity, then spins up when the scheduled Hyper Backup kicks off. The backups are saved flawlessly every day. Now, I will say that the easystore does work fine for those backups IF and ONLY IF the drive is formatted for Linux and left spinning 24/7. Unfortunately, for me, that just won't do. A single USB drive that is constantly running outside of a raid, seems foolish to me and makes the easystore a bad choice for my NAS's data protection needs. See the attached photo of the Cable Matters USB adapter with a WD Red drive. This is my working solution for my backups of the NAS.

This review is for the WD - Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black Had this unit going 24-7 for two years without any issues at all. Fast and reliable. I may even take the protective film that doesn’t cover cooling vents off the gloss black some day.

Fantastic! I used it for my Xbox Series X and have had no problem at all! Super easy installation!

So far there have been no issues with this drive and my only issue is the price is a little on the high side.

I got the 256 red drive. Easy to shuck. Some videos online if needed to keep from damaging the shell. No issues after scanning the drive initially. Using it for over a month now and works perfect. Looking forward to picking up a few more as I’d like to use these in a raid 1+0 setup. Using on MS server 2012

I bought this at an attractive sale price. I'm happily using the drive with an iMac for Time Machine backup and media storage. Performance is good, but not as high as some more expensive drives from other manufacturers. The Blackmagic 1 GB Disk Speed Test shows numbers around 110 MB/s write and 180 MB/s read speed (photo attached). The has a nice looking glossy finish that adores fingerprints. It seems well-made and well-ventilated. It seems to go on sale often, so it could be worth waiting for a good price.

This is my second 8TB Easy Store. I have 0 complaints. Cheap, quiet and they help me increase my media collection. Best bargain around.

Bought 4 & opened them and all 4 were Red Label NAS graded HD with 252MBcache. 48=32TB installed into my WD MyCloudPR4100 NAS which i bought as dishless: 32TB MyClod PR4100 for 50% the market price.

I love this! I have plenty of space now. I freed up another drive just for backups which was running out of room. I also am able to have duplicate files of my art work which is really important to me. Works out great and you can't go wrong with WD drives.

Is amazing in the ps5 but he do a little noise but is acceptable
