I have three copies of this 3TB HD. One is the working drive and two are backups. Once a quarter I copy the contents of the main to the back up drive. This process takes 22 hours. When I copied the main HD to the new 8TB HD it only took 6 hours. Yes, I used the same computer with the same cables and power supply. The only thing different was the 8TB HD instead of the 3TB HD.

Overpriced SMR drive, should be 150 max

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.highly overpriced, $199 at the time 08-28-2021, best buy taking advantage of 'supply chain' pricing bloat, and it wasn't worth it really. The drive uses SMR tech, which means it has to overwrite areas to add more data like shingles on a roof laying on each layer line. That's not good. CMR is what you want. Always check in advance, I had no choice at the time, so I got this in a rush and Best Buy charged what should be the price for CMR. I am not buying or advising HD purchases from Best Buy for a while.
