I use mine as an expansion drive for my PS4 and love it . I cannot stand to delete games I’ve worked so hard for , yet do not want to sacrifice quality of gameplay either; this drive restores my happiness and faith in the present/future of gaming . No lag , easy to format , no noticeable running sound.

This external drive can back up all the systems in my house. I'm amazed at how large they make these drives now.

Reliable, easy set up, and reliable external hard drive

Needed a large 8TB drive to move my XBox one X games between the Xbox and the 8TB drive. This drive works great.

I have owned quite a few portable external hard drives in the past, and this one sees to be the best so far, It has advanced features that make the drive seem more like an internal drive. It seems to be able to copy whole lot of files very quickly.Moving a terabyte quickly seems quite easy, I hope this drive lasts a long time, because it's very handy, and makes storage very simple.

I use these for network backups of servers. Simple to use and reliable.

Plugged in, formatted it for Mac, started Time Machine. All working fine, quiet operation. A good deal at $160.

Easy/store is easy to use. I like the rounded shape too. The downside to this and some other external hard dives that are on the market is that the power port is very often proprietary, somewhat flimsy and over time can break. Given the sensitivity of the type of product it is this can present a problem. If allowed to go too far it can become quite difficult to obtain or transfer data from it and a replacement part for the port is difficult to find. Other than that it works well and is easy to use

Got this to use as a backup drive. I am a photographer and have a ton of photos to keep safe. This does the job. Easy to use. Install software, setup backup and you're done. The software has really been updated.

Big enough to back up my NAS and easy enough to setup that I didn’t have to think about it!

The cost of storage is/has/and continues to drop through the floor (especially for spin platter designs...SSD will follow). So, getting this guy for the price, to serve as the home server, was a no-brainer. WD has a good reputation. I've had several smaller sizes of this design with no problem. This one has become the music, video, and movie files server location. I'll be adding a second solely as a backup of this one (...because...they're really inexpensive...even if you need to replace one...FROM YOUR BACKUP! :) ). Beware, they sell models advertising "personal cloud" which is the same thing as making a drive available to your local wifi network...don't spend the extra $40-$80 bucks on those models...just attach this one to your network. Yes, those models provide software that manages multiple touching of files but when does that REALLY happen in a household?

As with all WD external drives it does its purpose well. Needed the extra storage and got it for cheap price.

shelled 8 of these and used in an 8 bay NAS. 48TB of RAID 6 storage for only $1200, which is totally bonkers.

A lot of storage and is plug and play so you just plug it in and it works.
