    I had purchased one that became defective within 6 months. I git it replaced by WD. So far so good but the first fail shouldn’t have happened

    The WD Drive Utility offers a disk scan on all your drives, and it completed in a reasonable time, If you have a Mac you have to reformat the drive.

    I bought this because of the super great deal at the time. Then I read the reviews and I was very pleased. It did not overheat, make noise, and it was the RED drive. I made one backup of almost 4 tb and maybe a dozen hourly backups using Time Machine on Mac. Then it failed with multiple directory errors. Returned to BB.
