My kids knocked it over once and bam stopped working,not to mention it needs to be powered to an outlet...terrible

recently failed, Geeks could not revive it, shows up that it's on the computer but can not open.

This went bad with in a week of purchasing and using it and was unable to retieve data off of it

HAD A WD RED DRIVE INSIDE. WAS FINE FOR 3 YEARS AND DIED 1 MONTH OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY.

Doesn’t connect to any computer but my Mac. Stop being recognized by my Mac 5 months in.

Fell off my desktop once and now it wont boot and I lost all of my data

I have 2 of these so far and will purchase 2 more in the near future (for harvesting drives). right now these are to back up data stored on my NAS. They are running quiet and cool. if you purchase one of these the first thing you should do is run the included WD diagnostics utility to verify that the drive is in good working order. If it fails the software check or is super noisy take it back and get another one, they should run pretty quietly normally. I have had no problems with either unit so far. this is a good and inexpensive way to save precious photos, videos or other important data.

Good quality hard drive, I was able to back up all my files for work and dropbox. This is the 3rd WD hard drive I have purchased over the last 10 years and thus far when I take them down from the shelf and use them they have done their job.

Just what I needed and in a matter of days! Works great, as it should and at a fair price. Everyone should be aware that if you have one of these and you purchase a Mac computer, you’ll need to format it. It’s a total riot act/scheme if you ask me. I know have 3 of these external drives.

Failed after 6 months ! what gives no more WD for me

Purchased this in February 2021. I shucked the drive to use in an NAS (synology 220+). Did not have to do any pin or power mods, it plugged right in and was recognized. The drive model number inside was WD80EDAZ, made in Thailand in July 2020. Just posting this to let people know who want to use for shucking what drive is currently inside.

perfect for backup drive that sits on your desk and works in background. solid, very quiet (I don't agree with any review saying it is loud or hot, that is just wrongheaded), good value per TB. Transfer speed USB 3.0 is perfectly fine for everyday use, especially backups.

The power adapter only last a month. Had to get a new one

I returned it ! Swipe out all my files and bulky .

Would not recommend died same day I got the drive.
