Bought five of these to use the drives in my new QNAP TS-873. All contained WD80-EMAZ drives, which by all accounts, are one of several "Red" equivalents. You don't get the 5-year warranty, but it's worth the tradeoff to me at this particular point in time. Getting them out was easier than I thought, and I managed to be patient and not break anything, so I still have 5 good enclosures. For the price when they're on sale, you can't beat them, whether you're using them as externals or for the drives; the enclosures don't look bad sitting on a desk, either.

I have multiple WD external HDDs and am very satisfied with the products. As a rule, I only but WD drives for internal and external use. This drive is high quality, well built and stays in line with WDs proven track record of quality and reliability.

I'm one of those people who does a ton of research about a product before I buy it. I do a lot of video editing with 4K footage and photography so needed a fast and reliable unit at a good price point. This product offers all of that. Can't beat it.

I already own a 4TB WD external drive and just needed additional capacity. Set up was easy and. Setting backups was simple. I am using the drive as an archive (actual backup) which will be used in emergencies. If you want this to store and stream videos etch, then this is not for you. I would suggest an actual SAN solution. If you just want a backup system then I would recommend this.

I use this as a large expansion drive for my Xbox Series X, and it's surprisingly fast for an external platter HDD. Definitely worth the price. I'm planning to buy more.

The WD-easystore external drive was perfect for my purpose of backing up all of the photos and documents from my computer and other older drives.

Picked up this little guy to use on a Raspberry Pi-based NAS. Seems to work just fine. I'm sure the 3b is holding back any performance that this actually has.

Got this on a Best Buy sale. Opened it up to use for a NAS, works great, and is much quieter than our older drives. Hoping Best Buy does another price drop because I'd like to get another.

These are good quality drives and in fact many people have gotten WD RED drives in them, those are NAS Ware drives that usually cost 250+. If you're lucky you might get one with a RED drive in it. This is a great deal if gotten on a sale.

It's not overly noisy. It's reasonably quick. Great for backups

Very good transfer speed for an external drive with large capacity and is big enough to have everything in one place without have to carry a bunch of drives around. Has a nice outer case with lots of vent holes to help with convection Cooling.

I've been using this external hard drive for a number of months. It is slow and hangs up often even with a new laptop. I've used this external hard drive on both an older computer and a new computer and it still has the same problems. I do not recommend the purchase of this hard drive.

needed it because I had another 8 TB start to act stupid. So far this unit has worked flawless.

I use these all the time for storing video project files. I've never had an issue at all.
