Good TB to $ ratio when bought on sale price. Works as intended. Faster than competitor equivalent but a little more expensive.

    Great drive with one caveat!

I bought three of these drives to do what many others have done; shuck them and use them in a NAS RAID array. Shucking isn't as easy as it looks on the YouTube videos, but it's doable. I managed to get it right by the third drive. Many, many people, including YouTube channel creators and magazines have noted that these external drives contain WD Reds! Well, imagine my surprise when I found that in two of the three external drives were WD drives with a plain white label, not Red. The white label drives, as long as the purchased drive is marked on the box as a "Product of Thailand", does have 256MB cache. Further, though these two drives aren't "Reds" per se, my new QNAP TS-451+ NAS has no problem working with them. As I write this, the NAS set up no problem and is building the RAID-5 array and should be done in a few hours. I do think these drives are worth it if you want to build a NAS and don't mind shucking them. Don't do what I did. Shucking them without snapping tabs inside the enclosure is easy once you know how. Take it slow, and don't try to pop the sides up. Once pressing on the two retention tabs with a solid object like a credit card, you just have to slide the wraparound cover off. The inside actually rides on rails inside the wraparound cover. I don't know anything about any of the software or throughput features of this drive because I never turned them on. They're worth it for an 8TB drive that costs way less than $200. If you get a WD Red, even better!

I was looking for a high capacity drive that did not have shingled magnetic recording as that destroys drive performance. This WD drive is a regular PMR drive and I think I will be quite happy with it at the sale price.

It is a large drive. I use it as a photo storage device. Transfers large files relatively quickly, not blindingly fast, but more than acceptable. It does make some noise.

We purchased this to back up our home computers and laptops. So far the easystore has lived up to its name. It was absurdly easy to set up and use, and has performed flawlessly so far. I can definitely recommend purchasing the easystore if you're looking for a quick and reliable way to back up your computers/data.

I bought two and ended up shucking them for my Plex drive. They both ended up being white labels and needed the 3-pin tape trick for them to work, but they work just fine. They both have been running since November non-stop without issue. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for big storage needs.

So far it has worked as expected. WD and Seagate are my main go to products every time. Usually price and availability are the final boxes to check and whichever offers the best exchange in value wins over the other. ***When I first got it, I had to reformat it because there was a partition for the built in software I didn't care for. Otherwise you have two drives show up and it was annoying.
